| I probably shouldn't be writing this after watching that performance 22:50 - Mar 10 with 872 views | BlacknGoldnBlue | I, honestly, don't think we will get promotion either via play offs or automatically. Everyone says we have the best squad in the league and for the amount it cost it should be. However we have too many players that haven't performed as they have previously or their price tag dictates! Chuba Akpom - people thought we'd pulled off a coup by stealing him from under Brum's nose but he hasn't performed at all. Jens Cajuste - we saw glimpses of his ability in the prem and we expected him to be a "cheat-code" in the Championship but he's been a disappointment. Now our fifth choice midfielder and we needed more from him. Kasey McAteer - we thought it was a strange signing and we still do. Hasn't contributed enough. Ashley Young - Signed to bring experience? Shown his age in performances and then was injured. A squad place that could have been utilised better. Sindre Walle Egeli - There is a player there! Unfortunately he is hampered by the price tag for a signing that was probably made for financial reason rather than footballing ones. Hopefully we get to see the player he has potential to be but he'll probably move on for a small profit and blossom elsewhere. If we were a Brighton or Brentford he would have been a signing that was loaned out but that wasn't an option for us. Ben Johnson - playing his first season outside top flight football but only gets cameos and still looks like he's should be a league below. There are others that I have been disappointed with and hoped/expected more. However the six players above are six squad places that could have gone to players that might have contributed more. I know that football management is not an exact science and some players just don't work out at some clubs but, Egeli apart, the others are experienced professionals that just haven't performed - and in many cases haven't show the effort that we deserve. If KM stays past the summer (and I don't think he will) he will be having to build another team and knowing the shortfalls from this season and the time taken to get meaningful performances the future isn't looking straight forward! | |

If we don't go up I think KM needs to go which will be a real shame and he'll always remain a legend but his football style no longer works and he won't change plus he hasn't gelled a team this year but who we get next I have no idea. Better he goes then rather than ruin his legacy. That said I obviously hope he gets us up and keeps us up but that's not looking very likely.

Thanks. Just worried I let raw emotions affect my thoughts but reading again this morning I believe everything I wrote.

Our results have flattered us at times and some individual quality has hidden some deficiencies in the team. We’re quite slow in possession and are generally passive. The tone was set in Brum away and although we’ve improved we still have the same problem of lacking aggression and intensity at times. We’ve been waiting all season for the teamwork to properly click. Occasionally it does, but for some reason we can’t sustain it. I wouldn’t rule anything out, but we certainly don’t look like a team with the confidence and momentum needed to force our way to a promotion.

Taylor has been one of our best partners for azor, which again is ridiculous when you think of our investment and that shouldn't be anywhere near the case You look at boro and they have morris and hackney and we have a taylor! Our best striker is one who's had his worst weekly performing season We only appear to be able to win a majority of games if Nunez is playing the 10 role.. even though as phil mentioned previously, Nunez in the 10 isn't one many at the club like. We've reduced our biggest threat in Davis to make way for two flairy left sided players, neither suit the inside role, yet rely on moments of their individual brilliance rather than being able to utilise a solid 90 minute game from either of them ( one being injured currently anyway) We've got a host of excellent individual players, but it's not a system that plays with consistency. It's had a lot of rotation to keep players fit apparently, yet we look as lethargic than our opponents do. I think we have a host of solid championship players. I can't see any of the current squad other than azor maybe coping in the prem, but that's for another day but this physical description Ashton spoke of doesn;t excist. If it did, we probably would have a much better away performance overall in comparision to what we've had.

We have lots of very good players but ultimately they are a all much of a muchness - since Philogene has been out, I don't back anyone to do the unexpected or sublime and just win us the game. I think a team of our means should probably have 2, 3 or 4 of those players really.

It’s hard to understate how much we’ve missed the best version of Leif and especially his partnerships with Chappers especially (and more generally a goal-scoring number 10 too). Those partnerships aren’t quite there this year. It’s not been great down the right with Furlong and whoever’s been ahead of him either.

Furlong is solid defending but offers nothing going forward, and its hampered us. Also with Clarke and Philogene - both are good technical players but neither fit our system. The amount of times Clarke is caught on the ball or passes are intercepted is criminal. The worrying thing is that the two players that don't work in our system are the two highest scoring. Whoever decided to have both players on the books at the same time has wasted a considerable chunk of money!

I’m not sure who is in charge, Ashton Im looking at you ? Whoever you have running things you need to take a serious look at them, because it’s all half @rsed at best. We have needed a striker for 2 seasons now, even with Delap we needed someone to share with Hirst. Ali was never the answer. Should have kept Moore at the time. Least he was something different. If it’s true and Mckennas didn’t like any of the options then on his head be it,the money he is paid. Let’s be honest some of the recruitment has been bizarre.

It's not a suprise one of Davis's best season performances was when he played with Mehmeti recently in the Swansea at home game. We know to get the best of Davis, he needs space opened for him, Stoke weren't exactly playing a low block last night, so that option was there but look at clarke's heat map below ( not sure how to post picture of it, so you'd need to click his name within the lineup) So deep and inside so much there's no partnership with Davis in the areas that will hurt https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/m compare it with Mehmetis against Swanea, advanced but lots of movement enabling space for Davis https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/m Plus it helped with nunez pulling the strings inside and not relying on mehmeti to be that player which imo isn't his position. So we have three left sided 10s, two individual brilliance players who don't imo work with Davis, one who does, but will most likely be made the central 10 as nunez not preferred there.
