However, there does come a time (even when human error occurs) when you need the official(s) to NOT allow human error into their performance
There is far too much at stake in modern football, especially the top 2 tiers, for such glaring officials' decisions that have such a direct impact on a result (& in our case, to have occurred in two consecutive games at the business end of the season), there must be a case when the PGMOL have admitted an error(s), the club in question should be awarded by the league, the points that have been denied
Anything less than this, leaves the PGMOL & the Football League in disrepute & open to accusations of corruption

You're making a case for VAR and IMO the absence of that is part of what makes the Championship better than the PL for me.
I think my main problem with it (VAR) is exactly your point - "there's so much at stake for a business". We seem to move farther and farther away from football being entertainment for the common man and more and more to it being a commodity. I hope to never have to get used to having to wait for a minute or two before being able to celebrate a goal.
There will be, at some point, a moment where the genie can't go back into the bottle - where a game's result gets overturned retrospectively. That would pound that last bit of immediate entertainment out of the game. |  | | |

I dislike VAR and I prefer to take these decisions on the chin. I'm not even sure last night's one would have been overturned (nor would it have been given if the ref didn't give it).

This might be unpopular but I don't think the ref got the penalty decision wrong last night. It was very soft but the game is very soft nowadays. We were our own worst enemies and shouldn't have put ourselves in that position either with the 1st half performance or the final minutes. You can't give the referee a decision to make and cross your fingers.
Its too easy to blame the referee. Saturday was different, and had we been given the penalty for the foul on Kipre (which we should have) I don't think people would be so quick to blame the ref last night. |  | | |

What I think also. From the ref's perspective it looks a bit of a sandwich. Two individually acceptable challenges add up to a foul in his eyes. If one of our guys had chosen to take on the striker while the other tried to get in front and act as cover, it would not have been given. Bit of panic going on. | | | |

You can't do that! That's not a solution anyone would go for. Even if the penalty hadn't been awarded how can you guarantee they wouldn't have scored from the resulting set play anyway? If VAR was like the Tech at Wimbledon or even the Rugby review it would be fine.
But it's nearly as bad as real time reffing.
The point is that Football folks who make all the decisions, on the pitch or in a VAR studio, really don't have a proper understanding of the rules.
I just found out that our Leicester Pen appeal against Chaplin was seen as a 'coming together'.
