Can we talk about Egeli? 08:23 - Mar 15 with 7110 viewsfranz_tyson

I really feel for the lad and I appreciate he's scored a couple of important goals lately, but, surely, McAteer offers more down that right hand side. It's painful when we get on the front foot and the ball goes right. And then all momentum stops because Egeli has to stop and transfer the ball to his left. I'm sure confidence is part of it and he looks as if he's carrying a lot on his shoulders, but he's got to offer more as a wide man.
Being taken off at HT isn't really in the McKenna playbook. Think it's time for McAteer to step up and we've got to look after Egeli a bit and take him out of the firing line.
I've seen him play for Norway u21's and think he scored a hattrick and looked a worldbeater, but looks so ineffective at this level. Having said that, got 4 goals when he's not playing well so there could be a genuine goal-scorer in there.... but just looks a real weakness and so easy to defend against.

There was a thread praising his performance:
Egeli - probably his best performance for us by BlacknGoldnBlue 7 Mar 18:27
I know it was off the bench but think he looked up for it and caused a few problems for them while working hard for the team! And a great finish - he obviously knows where the goal is!

Cheers, missed that one ( i was knee deep in cocktails at the time tbf to me lol)

I do as i said earlier in thread feel that bench cameos prob is the best useage of him if he's going to be used. Defo not a starter

For me he’s a better prospect at 10. He looks more comfortable where there’s space (not on touch line) and can use his left. A talented footballer but is still developing esp in tough league.
There are better prospects around like no.7 at Hull and Jazeez at Millwall.
So for now I’d prefer him as sub and persevere with McAteer.
The trouble is that KM hasn’t been able develop a pairing like the left. He got it with Burns/Wilnis etc but……

Wilnis and Burns together would be an interesting propostion!
