after signing for AZ Alkmaar, for £6.7m, Parrott has been a great success, scoring better than once every 2 games & bigger European clubs are looking at paying £25m plus for him.

A potential target should we get promoted? Or is he now 'too good', and the ship now sailed?

Yeah, because the Dutch and its top league have never produced any decent players.

Yeah, it's no SPL.

You could have dropped prime Messi into that Lamberk side and he would have been completely ineffective.

Dark days indeed.

Whilst there may be a large degree of that, Parrott was also very early in his career. Too many fans seem to expect players to be the finished article from day 1. Take Walle Egeli and McAteer as current examples. Was Parrott still at Town when McKenna joined too?

Has the ship sailed with Parrott? I would imagine not if we were promoted. I don't think he is attracting the attention of top sides. But if he ended up with a choice of West Ham/Everton, etc or us we would do very well to get him in.

Also, the whole "pub league" argument (laying aside whether there is any truth in it), we need to be identifying and signing players before they have proven themselves in the top divisions. That way we stand a far better chance of signing them. Players like Clarke, Philogene, McAteer and Walle Egeli. Although, there is a chance any of those won't make it at the level we need. (The same is true of proven players, though.)

Was it him or Dane Scarlett that McKenna was particularly effusive about? Am I right in thinking that the comment was that they were one of the best players he'd ever coached, or something like that?

McKenna on Scarlett I think.

Parrott was here for the end of the Lambert debacle / first few months of Paul Cook. He was crap for us, but he's done well since to be fair to him.

He's a good player but I am not sure he would be good enough for us were we to be promoted.

The same can't be said of Chalabah who these days would be out of our reach. Someone said on the radio last night that he had been Chelsea's best defender this season.

He was an option we looked at, but he won't be coming here, any chance we had has flown away now.

You’re a good egg Herbs, but you’re someone who takes every single criticism of the team and management extremely personally, to the point of petulance.

Who would have guessed that there was a less serious, mischievous side lurking there in the shadows?

Either that, or you’re falling back on the old TWTD classic of saying something silly and claiming a whoosh….

Targetmen often take longer to develop their game, I always felt there was player on there but it's taken a while for him to flourish?

He's still only 24 but £25 million is probably an expensive gamble, it's the higjher end of what we would be prepared to pay I'd imagine?

If I remember rightly he wasn't very popular behind the scenes during his time here.
