I've been watching the second half of them at Everton.

They are 3-0 down and look absolutely clueless. Playing with absolutely no intensity at all.

Felt like a really weird choice at the time, probably only made because Strasbourg have the Chelsea link, with his record not really warranting a job of that level.

I think Chelsea basically just wanted an obedient puppet based on what Maresca inferred. The club's structure seems a total mess.

There must be some truth to this logic as otherwise it was incredibly risky/random appointment, even with the feeder club structure.

Personally, I think he was over-promoted. I’m not sure about any character assassinations; I steer clear of all that balls. I don’t know that much about him other than his loan here and record at Hull. He seems to think himself a bit of an contrarian intellectual, so comes across a bit like Joey Barton but without the misogyny and racism. Or is it just the glasses that gives him that look and I’ve read him wrong.

Agree on the character assassination, I'm purely commenting based on his previous management record.
