To be fair, it's worth highlighting again.

Especially when this sort of thing has been mentioned once or twice in the past, and has been shouted down from most corners.

Marks always made it about him. He’s a walking ego, from wanting our promotion celebration to be ‘shit on the Villa’ songs, to ensuring he’s the only executive decision maker at the club, with zero accountability, precisely so he ca make it about him, and his agenda, which at the minute has allowed him to destroy our commercial brand equity, in one stupid action.

I’m his biggest critic. Not to say he isn’t a very good operator at EFL level, because he is. And he has mk ed us forward in the EFL, a long way too.

My or ke was his ego and decision making has always been below elite level, and with our resources, we should have been looking for better people and outcomes.

If we’re honest, and the uncomfortable truth is, this isn’t Marks fault, he is what he is.

How ON GODS EARTH has ONE MAN being allowed to have 100% control over all executive decisions at the club!!! I’m 2026 thanks bonkers, and mines off how successful clubs operate, mikes off.

That’s in the owners primarily, they had a duty of care to the club, to ensure this hijacking of our brand. Our history, our club, wasn’t possible, they failed in that duty of care.

I’d point out ALL the media. And many happy clapping fans, also failed in their duty of care.

The media just wanted access and zero scrutiny was provided, and still isn’t (some aren’t even covering the story, they’re so petrified of Mark). And the fans who happy clapped and parroted every ounce of gas lighting from Mark, like bad referees, bad weather, bad training ground etc etc

They scrutinise when they don’t like his politics.., but he’s been like this for a long while, and this has been obvious for a very long time

Mark id an easy problem to solve.

He needs to go, it’s that simple. Having owners who aren’t football people and can’t provide elite support, governance and oversight, that’s a MUCH harder problem to solve - as is 100% of the media just parroting literally anything the club say, I get the commercial issues, but zero scrutiny is exactly why we are in this position.., with our brand equity and commercial attractiveness to sponsors, players, coaches, managers, supporters, in tatters!! And I mean tatters!!

Not a party political point, doing this and reducing your commercial appeal by 80% is a disaster in any football or sports club - eve the biggest Farage fan as a player would be advised to sign elsewhere, and retain 100% of their brand and commercial value, rather than see that eroded by politics.

What a mess.., it’s so much bigger than people think, because nobody wants their commercial brand value reduced to exclude huge swathes of people.

Wouldn’t be shocked if some of our current players and staff want away either.., this isn’t just about future recruitment, retention just got a million times harder too.

This isn’t Marks club, he’s an employee, and he’s acted like he’s the owner, and only his views count, it’s not acceptable, it’s gross negligence - it can’t and shouldn’t be accepted.., it won’t be forgotten by agents, who won’t allow th commercial value if their assets to be reduced by politics.., they’ll go to the 99.9% of clubs that avoid politics for that exact commercial reason.

Were are DONE as a club as long as Mark stays.

It’s that simple.., but the owners need to do much better. You don’t give one person this much power. It’s been woeful governance, 101 of running a business!!!

I mean, if Phil wants to get back at Ashton in the most petty of ways, following being thrown under the bus yesterday, is there anything that would oblige TWTD to use an up-to-date image of MA when reporting about him?

I can imagine that MA probably isn't too much of a fan of this particular image, but if it's in the public domain or licensable...

The fact that people are "upping" your posts is proof alone that this board is losing its mind.

Although, in Mark's instance, wouldn't the book be entitled 'This Is MY Life'?

Coming this Spring on BBC1

Join world-class Chairman and CEO Mark Ashton as he surprises a range of celebrities, talking them through his life with the assistance of his 'big red book'.

This season sees Mark take on his biggest challenges yet; surprising Sir Ian McKellen live on stage at the National Theatre, as well as applying the cuggern oil to try and slip past security at Trooping The Colour and treat King Charles to an audience with his Most Loyal Subject.

'This Is My Life with Mark Ashton' - Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC 1 (repeated hourly on BBC 1, 2, and 4)

Oh yawn, it's you again, opportunistically jumping on the bandwagon with all the subtlety of a Nigel Farage publicity stunt.
