Ashton proving that it takes one awful day to undo 3 years of goodwill. 17:09 - Mar 26 with 604 viewspatrickswell

Going by that Athletic article, that’s my line in the sand crossed, and I suspect it will be for others who were queasy about the story but willing to give the club the benefit of the doubt.

Such a stupid move, and as someone who has respected and liked the work that Ashton’s done here, I really hope he recognises what a distraction this could become and nips it in the bud with a resignation.

If that article is correct, and given how press outlets lie I still have a pinch of salt in my hand, then it does look bad for Ashton.

However I still think you'll find Ashton will here until the end of the season.

That’s certainly possible given the stage of the season we’re at. But I hope he doesn’t drag it out, because this is now a seriously divisive issue and if that is allowed to spread to the stands and terraces, it will only do massive harm to our club.

I can tolerate different political beliefs, what I cannot accept is bare-faced lying. This is the most annoyed I've been in this whole saga by some margin.

Unfortunately, Ashton was unable to be the best version of himself. And now it is time to egress from the stadium bowl.

Feels like something that will be taught in lectures up and down the country in years to come. Unbelievable that someone in his position could be so stupid

He might have had some measure of sympathy before. He has none at all now. Needs to go quickly now or he will do even more damage to the club as a whole

Exactly this.

Unless he hasn’t lied and had others lie for him while he’s negotiating his severance deal. That could make sense of why nothing has been said.
