So, what next....? 08:48 - Mar 27 with 3701 viewsFunge

It is inconceivable that Ashton stays - he has pissed off the supporters, the internal staff, and, by accounts, sponsors and a number of the 1st team squad - or, for brevity, absolutely everyone.

He must go; I would assume that Werhun and Nash go with him.

The radio silence from the club is, I suspect, a manifestation of 'fire-fighting' - in the first instance, McK and the players - god only knows what Mehmeti makes of all this, along with many others - not to mention the fact that the Town HR team will be in full effect, according to The Athletic/ Nick Ames.

One would presume that the Americans are trying to compile some form of contingency plan; reasonable to assume that this will take a little time.

How on earth McK keeps the squad remotely focussed throughout this is anyone's guess - another layer of irritation, on top of everything else, is Ashton's sheer fcking selfishness in, once again, making all of this about him. He has always put himself first; it seems that ITFC were a (very) useful vehicle for his ego.

At least there is (a little) time before the next game; that said, the Americans need to present something pretty bloody quickly. Is it reasonable to expect some form of communication today?

What a festering mess we have here, all as a result of this dense clown's desire to self-promote himself. That Blue Action post was remarkable - they, and we all, are ITFC, not you, Ashton, you slimy little toerag.

Another "Just lunch" comment. Are you missing the point on purpose?

Even if you support Reform (no idea if you do, not really the issue) you can surely see that angering players, fans, staff and sponsors is really bad for the football club especially at this point in the season.

Also, I think you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who would say that Ashton as an individual should not hold any opinions or have lunch with whomever he please. Very different to what has actually occurred though isn't it?

Is he missing the point on purpose? Are you new here?

Trailing vapour since 1999.

I’m defending myself, I couldn’t care less about Farage. I just find all this way over the top. It’s what’s wrong with society, always baying for someone blood when things go wrong nowadays. Someone always having to pay. I’m not sure when this trend or where this trend started (probably America). It’s become so prevalent in the world over recent times. It’s not so much the person in question even, although it’s a huge deal, what about family and friends ? His kids ? It’s always those that suffer the most. Does anybody stop and think about them ?

Having a family doesn't give anyone carte blanche to act however they wish. What about the player's family and children - especially those not of British descent. Mehmeti's family, considering how Farage has dismissed Albanians? The women's team considering how condescending he's been about women's football, seeing him visit in the week they're due to play at Portman Road?

Sometimes mistakes can be forgiven and forgotten. We do all make them. But some are too big to let slide. And deliberate deceit adds to that.

The CEO will resign, and be replaced by the wise old head of the current Chairman.

Problem solved.

Oh.

won't somebody think of the children! not seen you ever jump in to defend a starmer, a davey or a badenoch. why's that then

the refusal to give any politician or immigrant the benefit of the doubt is very much a farage thing.

however, the holding-people-to-account-when-they-lie and cover-up is not a left/right trope. it's a human decency position

I think a sensible step forward would be a Presser early next week with Ashton and Farage just to establish the facts and clear the air

I'm happy to do the arrangements

I will be delighted to phone Reform HQ, get Farage on the line and tell him

"See You Next Tuesday"

I agree, this whole episode is ridiculous. I can't believe people are actually calling for Ashton to resign. I'm not a Farage fan but this really isn't the end of the world and I've even seen people calling out other fans as racists etc just because they also don't see much wrong in what has happened. A few people need to get a grip of themselves and realise that this is not the end of the world. I really hope that the American owners also see the sense of all of this and get behind Ashton and the club and concentrate on the more important issue of winning a few games of football.

As Farage is a poundland Trump the American owners will be probably be OK with this.

This is what happens when the owners don't like your politics or views.

Love big Nige. About time he got voted in to sort out the mess Labour are creating. He also looked very nice in Blue.

By the way. Not every Ipswich supporter has to be a lefty! They are not inextricably linked.

the problem was created by nige/boris/russia's brexit.

then deepened by truss, jenrick, braverman and badenoch's disastrous tory governments.

the main issue i have with labour is that they're not fixing it fast enough, but faage( who said that truss's budget was the best for a generation) wouldn't have the first clue!
