He doesn't think he's done anything wrong. The board have made him do the apology. Which he has done very begrudgingly and without admitting fault. This is bigger than the season and games of football. It's the club's reputation and history on the line. No moving on until Ashton goes.
| Time to get be get behind the team now! on 16:28 - Mar 28 with 456 views | armchaircritic59 | Not going to get into the MA thing any more, but you're spot on. The team and as far as we know the manager, have had nothing to do with the events of the last few days. It's those where the focus needs to go over the next week. | | | |

You say messed up, made a mistake, etc.. but what was the mistake? He never says, you never say it in this thread. What was the mistake and why can't he take ownership of it?

I would be. My anger isn't at the politics of the situation, it's about the lies and gaslighting. [Post edited 28 Mar 16:46]

No! It's nothing to do with that. If Ashton said the club are going to be the new face of the monster raving looney party would that be okay?

Ok. This is more classic whataboutery (and I find it interesting that you are insisting people answer your question, when you refuse to say what he has apologised for), but I'll bite.... Any politician. Yes. The Prime Minister? That would entirely depend on context, but if it was for promoting the party then yes. I refer my learned gentleman to my earlier response posted before the non-apology: I see freedom of speech is irrelevant here by TheMoralMajority 26 Mar 22:07Jesus christ.
For the umpteeth time it's not about f'ing reform. It's about platforming a political party, *any* political party, denying it, lying about it and gaslighting the fans, all whilst claiming to be 'apolitical'
Sure, carry on with the "whataboutery" if you want, serves no purpose.
We all, as fans, have been taken for absolute mugs. You may be ok with that. I am not.
There are those on the right who will go "yeah, but, what about Starmer, what about the Greens".
There are those on the left who will scream to high heaven "Farage is a Nazi!!".
None of these are the point (and neither side really do any service to the real issue)
OUR CLUB IS NOT A POLITICAL MOUTHPIECE
WE ARE NOT HERE TO HAVE OUR MONEY TAKEN OFF US AND BE LIED TO.
REPEATEDLY. [Post edited 28 Mar 16:58]

The choice isn't Ashton or Evans though. It is Ashton or someone who hopefully isn't a lying, disingenuous POS who denied, denied, denied and only came out with an "apology" (what for, no one knows, as no one has yet been able to say) because he was caught out in a lie when the Athletic and the Guardian picked up the story. Once upon a time integrity meant something. It really saddens me to see that is no longer the case. [Post edited 28 Mar 16:57]

People have listened to your opinion and questioned it. Kind of that happens on a forum. You've then had a tantrum, tried to take your ball back and are now sulking in the corner.

@Ipswich_Crazy: You demanded people answer your question, whilst refusing to answer anyone elses. When someone did answer your question you deleted your thread. Not a great look. I try to be respectful of others opinion. My opinion is clearly stated, and I have my reasons. Others don't agree, and that is fine. All I ask is that people argue the point with the same good faith that I am attempting to. This world is full of very different people with very different opinions. No one is going to agree on everything.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand the question. I wasn't trying to disrespect anyone, sorry if I came across that way; it was not international.

That's fine. It is a loaded question. Many people have been asked it, but no one has yet been able to answer it. There is no reason why you should be able to (although the question is genuine, I really would like to know): What did Ashton apologise for? (To be clear, I'm not asking why he apologised, I'm asking what the action is that he is apologising for, because, as far as I can see it is never stated).
