The board have made him do the apology. Which he has done very begrudgingly and without admitting fault.

Any politician. Yes. The Prime Minister? That would entirely depend on context, but if it was for promoting the party then yes.

The choice isn't Ashton or Evans though. It is Ashton or someone who hopefully isn't a lying, disingenuous POS who denied, denied, denied and only came out with an "apology" (what for, no one knows, as no one has yet been able to say) because he was caught out in a lie when the Athletic and the Guardian picked up the story.
