Questions that need to be answered 08:51 - Mar 30 with 1847 viewsWarkOfTheTown

1: We were initially briefed that Reform’s visit to Portman Road was neither official nor as the result of an invitation – rather, that they booked a stadium tour privately online and the club was unaware who had made the booking. Was that true?

2: It has been reported that Nigel Farage was invited to visit Portman Road by an associate of Mark Ashton. Is that correct and, if so, who was it?

3: Were the club’s owners made aware of Reform’s visit in advance?

4: Did Mark Ashton and Luke Werhun entertain Nigel Farage for lunch as reported?

5: The club initially claimed that the ‘Farage 10’ Ipswich Town shirt was purchased by Reform. It has since been reported that the club printed six ‘Farage 10’ Town shirts and gifted them to him for free. Which version of events is true?

6: Did Reform inform you of their intention to capture promotional content at the ground and was permission granted?’

7: Will Mark Ashton apologise to the Ipswich Town fans who have been upset by seeing their club used by Nigel Farage and Reform for political gain?

It doesn't go away mate - until it's resolved.

Ashton out - sooner the better. It's that simple.

Being fair to the OP. The club will have to address at least some of these questions before Friday.
If they don't, then these questions are going to be put to McKenna in his presser.

Why does it matter to you what actions BlueLagos may or may not take, if it does not have a direct impact on the team?

Why is it so terrible that someone has a different opinion about things to you?

I don't see anyone telling you what you can or can't do, or castigating you that you don't have an issue. That is entirely you're right.

Obviously, all rhetorical. No need to reply

It is time to give it up - Ashton's position is untenable and until he stops clinging on to it or is removedby force it isn't going anywhere. The sooner he resigns or the club removes him so we can begin to move on, the better.

What, Ipswich Town fans now have to stop supporting their team as well now being forcibly associated with a political party and an individual many of them greatly dislike?

Why should Farage be allowed to take our team away from us, damage ITFC's chances of promotion, lose all the community building which has taken place over the last four or five years?

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I can understand why so many are saying they will do.

The disaster Ashton has brought on this club is going to have an effect which is why even you should care enough to be angry with him for doing it.

Can only speak for myself - but I can't visit a club with Ashton involved.

Still support Town, will still go away too. Offered my ticket up to a mate as I don't want to see an empty seat.

Hope this is resolved before ST renewals.

Be fair. People being castigated for not having an issue is precisely what's been happening for nigh on a week. People have been accused of being 'fascist sympathisers' for precisely that.

That's probably fair. I have attempted to glaze over all of the culture wars BS as I think it entirely misses the wider issue, and just muddies the waters (from both sides of the debate)

For me, at least, it's not about identity politics, it's about ITFC and trust.

Not criticising anyone's decision to stay away, only the Faragists' demands that we for some reason have to, in order to "prove" our true opposition.

I personally will be there on Monday, as it is the first occasion for some time I have been in a position to attend a game at PR (bought the ticket before the events in question). I don't intend to let Ashton or Farage spoil it more than they already have.

I've got zero issue with anyone going - it's a personal choice.

I have a huge issue with Ashton, with the club for not acting properly and for those who abuse people (on both sides of the debate) rather than engage in debate.

Enjoy the match, hope we win.

You thought Ashton had resigned?

Or those questions had been properly and satisfactorily addressed?

You simply telling us not to worry about it really isn't going to work regardless of how many times you say it. Too many of us hate racism and demonisation of minorities that this club has become a part of by being associated with Farage.

As a matter of interest Lazy Blue, are you happy with us sponsoring Farage?

Would you be equally happy if the club sponsored Corbyn?

A man who has committed a mistake and doesn't correct it, is committing another mistake

Mistake - entertaining Farage
Mistake - staying silent
Mistake - issuing a non apology
Mistake - not taking ownership
Mistake - not answering the questions
Mistake - disrespecting the fanbase
Mistake - not resigning
