| Artemis day 06:45 - Apr 1 with 799 views | Perublue | Unless there’s a delay (always highly possible) todays the day I’ve been waiting for for years with this particular project but decades in my life with excitement as a whole. If all goes well it could very well be a moon landing in 2028. | |

Unlike the late '60s, there isn't the Cold War to drive the fantastic tempo of the then Space Race. Neither are there near-unlimited chunks of national budgets being thrown at projects*. Under two years would be remarkable progress in very little time, given Starship hasn't even successfully orbited yet, let alone achieved crew rating. * The Chinese might be, but they always take a longer-term view on things, rather than throwing cash at instant success. | |

| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

It’s great. It’s an expensive business, but I’d much rather money goes on this than on bombs and dodgy contracts to donors/mates. At least this shows the best sides of humanity; togetherness, curiosity and striving to achieve. There have been some lovely moments from this mission. From a petty perspective, I enjoyed the astronauts blanking Trump because he’s the antithesis of everything this mission was about. But the highlights have been those amazing pics and the passion shown by the astronauts. I feel like I’ve lived it through them, or as close as I could get. [Post edited 10 Apr 20:46]
