It's OK. I don't think anyone's noticed. It should be quite easy to cover up and any lib lefty wet rags upset about it will soon be able to forget it and pretend it never happened.

Did you miss that PR is being renamed. He did it there and now he is doing it here.

Statue of Ashton replacing Sir Alf's, image of Farage to be painted over the one of Sir Bobby.

It will cause a stir but we will get over it after a few days, they are sure.

It is a good explanatory piece though. It describes the inconsistencies and issue well and explains why it shouldn't or can't be 'let go'.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Looks accurate and unbiased to me. Maybe we should have more citizen journalism and less outlets pushing a clearly paid for agenda.

It's definitely preferable to client journalism.

Byline Times did some really good work holding Johnson to account and exposing the VIP lane for Covid scammers in all its glory.

I thought the following was a fresh angle, and something that had struck me given we are more than 3 years away from a general election, and there is no guarantee that Reform will form the next government.

"If the purpose of the meeting was to discuss football regulation, Ipswich Town already has a direct line to government through its local MP, Jack Abbott, who is part of the ministerial team at the department responsible for sport. That route offers a clear and immediate channel into the legislative process.

Farage, by contrast, leads a party with a small number of MPs and no realistic prospect of forming a government in the near term. The independent football regulator is already well advanced. By the time any future political change were to occur, its framework would be firmly established.

Set against that, the choice of meeting – and the way it was handled – becomes harder to explain. If this was about influencing policy, there were more obvious and more effective routes available to Ashton."

And there is also this which in my view would point to any such meeting, were it to to take place, being as surreptitious as possible.

"The visit also took place during an active political campaign, with local elections just weeks away, and with Farage in Ipswich for a campaign rally the same day."

I presume the club has already made their feelings clear to Abbott. I assume Sunderland have done the same with their local MP. But it is a possible Farage will play a part in the next government, so any chance to speak to him is not necessarily a bad thing. I have no issue with the meeting. I have no issue with the lunch. My issue is the way the whole thing became a promotional platform for a political party.

Are you alright?

You seem to be on one tonight, you've already called Benters a C#nt, and he's not even on here tonight to respond.

I've no issue with "citizen journalism" per se, but it seems odd to want to portray yourselves visually as a traditional mainstream media outlet, it seems the very antithesis of everything you are against.

They describe themselves as "a not-for-profit regional online newspaper supporting citizen journalism", all's good with that, but why call yourself a 'newspaper' the very description of the MSN that you oppose. Just call it what it is, a collection of blogs and personal opinions. There is literally nothing wrong with doing that.

Also, Tommy 10 names describes himself as a citizen journalist, so yes, I do have a problem with that term.

That's a lot of attempted distraction from having not read an article, Benters will be fine with it in the context!

Can you just explain what you meant by "def info"? Because I took that to mean you were taking issue with the accuracy of the content. That is how I interpret that phrase. What do you understand it to mean?

No bother. What I mean by it is this.
Citizen journalism is nothing more than personal opinion, using existing news reports as a basis.
I’ve no issue with that, but label it as opinion, not as legitimate journalism, particularly when you are “borrowing” the actual journalism from accredited journalists who have been through journalistic training.

That’s what I meant. The OP, probably not knowingly, presented this as though it was something ‘new’ and it plainly, upon reading, isn’t new at all. Just what we already know presented with the writers opinion.

As I’ve said, but for some bizarre reason not believed. I’ve no issue with the article, but I do have concerns around Citizen Journalism, who’s origins come from the right to delegitimise traditional news and create mistrust of traditional reporting that calls out the far right. You only need to see Trump’s assertion “You are fake news” to understand the importance of delegitimising traditional news sources to the likes of Trump/Putin etc etc.

I feel like I rambled but as I said, no issue with the article, just its presentation.

And thanks for the reasonable question btw.
