| The RUN-IN refreshed - Town and Rivals - positive rounds for Town 19:35 - Apr 6 with 1446 views | unstableblue | Quite an Easter weekend for Town. Norwich did us a favour today to beat Millwall. Boro wobbled and stuttered - no win in 5. Yes Town struggled in that second half to find an identity. But positives in performances from McAteer, and in defence. We can now afford to lose two games which is massive, and I’m just not sure Boro are going to recover form now. They’ve been playing well and creating chances and not winning, today they look deflated and Hackney remains out. But for me, Millwall’s loss is huge. They looked like they were going to go on a really consistent run. COYFB. Just need to keep going, chipping away at it. We are hardly the team we were two years ago, yet are second. Fingers crossed we are either excellent for the rest of the season, and if we’re aren’t, then we are lucky instead. | | | |

… just different to the season of our last promotion Boro, Cov and Millwall have been really good for large segments And now Saints are kicking in with real form

With the goal difference, that would gets us second guaranteed on 85 unless Millwall win 5 in a row.

That's how I see it. A win against Norwich would be absolutely massive!🤞🤞 [Post edited 7 Apr 3:07]

We could basically sort it in 8 days from Saturday! If only life was that easy.

It's the championship it won't be. 2nd place changed hands three times yesterday, I suspect this may be true for next weekend also and the next few rounds of fixtures. I suspect it won't go as expected, we'll likely beat one of that lot or Southampton but not West Brom for example. Avoiding defeat against that lot and Boro is the key for me.

On paper we look very strong. Not many teams have a Philogene and Clarke vying for one place. But even games like Birmingham where we have in the main had players resting for two weeks and yet we fail to be convincing. The results for our rivals were almost perfect where we have ended up second with games in hand. This should be a defining moment in our season. Yes we have some tough games coming up. The Budgies, Boro and Saints and we cannot just assume that the other games are straightforward. But I do think serious questions need to be asked if we fail from what is an excellent position. We need Philogene back to his best, Akpom to prove there's a player there and Azon and Hirst to hit the back of the net regularly between now and the end of the season. I do not want a fingernail biting last game of the season.

I agree v Birmingham and I same in general the game was devoid of much quality we got over the line and not many matches I have walked out and thought we was that good over ninety minutes. Will we make it I'm still unsure the others help as they also can't make the most of the opportunities. Whatever league as in modern football another summer rebuild ahead.

I was really hoping yesterday that Town would kick on from that excellent 15mins in the first half and dominate the second and get a couple in front of the North Stand. It didn’t happen! That just didn’t happen and that strong 90mins display allusive - although seen against Norwich and Cov. It is important to realise teams are not their as practice dummies, and Brum really came at us second half with a big point to prove and quality players. But I’m not sure the systems or character are yet in place to react to these second half switches currently. Is that McKenna? Having said that perhaps this is the season where we just chip away at it, that we never excel fully - bat a few games - and maybe that’s an incredible outcome in its own right. But boy how we’d like a true barnstorming 90mins display. Imagine if everyone played like OShea or Matusiwa for 90mins?! McAteer did give that energy on Monday, hats off to him.
