Anyone got the stats for how often Nunez 11:51 - Apr 12 with 715 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Hits the wall with his free kicks? Seems to happen a lot, starting to wonder if we should leave them to Leif.

I dunno how often it happens, but his record for scoring from free kicks has not been great for us. He's scored two, both in the same game and both with the wall set up really badly.

I doubt he actually hits the wall that often, he's had a fair few that have made it over but comfortably saved. He's our best hope, by a long way.

Even if you did say he was average or poor at them, it doesn't make Leif any better. I might be wrong but hasn't he only ever scored one, the deflected one against Wednesday?

Mick Mills raised this recently no idea on stats but a lot.

Looking at it side-on in the away end, there is no way that the wall was 10 yards (or is it metres?) away.

As often, the referee didn't use proper length strides, and I would say that the distance was only 8 yards or metres. This undoubtedly made Nunez's task more difficult.

In my previous life as an Army Land Surveyor, we had to have our pace accurately calibrated

Someone counted our paces as we stepped out along a certified 100 metre marked line, step it 10 times and find the mean

I was 109.4 paces per 100 m, bang average

So 10 metres for all but the lankiest is 11 paces, not 10 paces

It didn’t look anywhere near 10 yards. It looked better set for Leif too imo

Poll: Escaped Goat of the day. Who’s it going to be?

I remember an experienced coach telling me to smash my first free kick at the wall to see what they're made of. Similarly with the second one after they've had a taste of the first one. Some walls were braver than others but they all kept their hands in a position to protect their family jewels.

I've never studied it, but apparently everyone holds their breath when Ronaldo lines up a free-kick, there's a big build-up and much anticipation but actually he's hardly scored any in his career. But if course he's scored o e or two special ones and therefore everyone has in their mind that it's going to happen every time he steps up to take one.

I guess it's similar with Nunez. He got that one against us a couple of years ago and those two against QPR, but otherwise they are off target. As are most of his shots.

However, he more than makes up for it with his passing, how he connects our play, etc. We are usually far better with him in the team.
