I love pork pies. Before I stopped work I got one every Friday for my morning break. They were the Melton Mowbray one's from Tesco. But they used to be £0.85 pence now £1.50 and that's just for a small pie.

I’d settle for any I could eat without ‘consequences’ …

Edit: though spooning Pip and Nut Smooth Peanut Butter straight out of the jar with a shake of salt added is becoming a bit of a thing … see also Naughty Nuts Smooth Cashew Butter…

Oooh now there’s a memory. I used to buy them once a week on the way into work. The mini ones came in packs of two and Waitrose or M&S offered the best lips n trash in pastry!

One for brekkie and one for lunch the following day, unless I had no time for lunch in which case the pp came to the rescue. Bi pie-ulnar! Not exactly healthy living but it wasn’t every day.

What I liked about them was the absence of that slimy jelly. They also were well peppered. No bad thing. Ta for the reminder. I’ve not had a pp for some years. Boo!

Those very mini ones in packs of 10 from M&S were the best, nice n crispy crust, (before my gluten intolerance kicked off 4 months ago). They were very filling, so not necessarily fattening, as one would do to fill the aching void in yer tum for a few hours at least.

They’re great!! You are right. Very filling and not too much on the fat/volume front. The trouble is that if I bought those and left them in the fridge in Treasury or Parliament St they’d get pinched! Along with teabags, milk and anything else. One of the slightly larger two pack jobs would be left. Not sure why.

As I love jamón serrano, and on the strength of your recommendation, I've just bought a bag.

They are delicious and surely the only snack of that nature consisting of only one ingredient, namely, ham.

As regards my own recommendation, M&S do anchovies in vinegar, olive oil, garlic and parsley. It's produced in Spain and know there as boquerones. They also do the crushed tomato that in Spain you spread on toasted bread, which make a very simple and delicious breakfast, along with olive oil..

I feel an M&S trip is on, might have to take out a loan.
Do they do store cards? At one point my friends and I got Burtons cards, they’d let you get cash back - so we’d nip in and buy and pair of socks and get £50, which went a long way in those days. The interest was eye watering.

Their store cards are pretty hopeless, and only seem to offer the odd discount on something you might have bought before. Or discounts on clothes that might well be available anyway.
