As long as they have an alternative they'll be fine, and I'm sure there's a legislative get-out that would allow them to charge a 'reasonable' admin fee for doing so. | |

I have two phones neither of which is compatible with NFC so I will need an alternative. If not I guess this lifetime fan will have to make the heartbreaking decision to not go any more at 73. I find the whole idea of digital ticketing so annoying and unnecessary. | | | |

So they used to send us a plastic card and now we need to download and install Google Wallet onto an NFC compatible smartphone (which not all are)? I presume it does not require signal as I often can't get signal at the ground. I checked my settings and seems I do have NFC, but I do not yet have Google Wallet installed. This is another example of life getting more complicated.
If the idea is to avoid ticket touting and there is an option of people without smartphones to still have a plastic card, wouldn't ticket touts just say they don't have a smartphone? [Post edited 18 Apr 8:44]

If plastic is the target, then stop selling beer in plastic bottles, 'ooooh no we can not do that say the PL as it might impact income' and income is more important than environment. If the environment is important then stop filling the air with shlt from fireworks before the start of every game 'oooooh no we cannot do that say the PL as its part of the entertainment the rest of the world wants, and that might impact income if we stop' and income is more important.
