During the first 30 minutes of the game last night FIFTY new threads were created about the match. I hate this about the forum - it’s not being used like a forum, but more like Twitter. It makes the forum unusable during a game.

Most other football forums have a single match thread, where people discuss the lead up, the game as it unfolds and then the post mortem, with the odd other - very specific - thread splitting off. That makes for a much nicer forum to use, for both the match discussion and other on-going discussions. However, all the one-thought threads (often with ZERO interaction) just overwhelm the forum.

The answer isn’t to say don’t come to forum during a game, it’s to consolidate all this instant reaction into a single thread that CAN be easily ignored by those that want to, but allow other ongoing thread discussions to survive.

Only my opinion, and it won’t change, but it would make the entire forum experience much easier.

So lets say there is one thread about in game comments.. what else are you looking to get from the forum during those 90 minutes?

Thats why i dont see what the issue is. Surely if youre coming onto the forum during a game youre doing so to discuss. Rant. What ever about the game itself.

If youre looking to have other football discussions during a town game. Isn't that a bit odd considering we are playing.

Doing it the way SuffolkPunch suggests keeps a chronological record of our collective reactions throughout the game.

Have you looked at any other football forums that do it as I suggest - it's so much tidier and easy to follow. As Cafe_Newman points out, for one thing it preserves the chronology but also the context.

Who know what else someone might want to post during the game? Last night was maybe a bit unique, but what about the Women's match going on at the same time?

And the biggie - if someone did post something completely new and unrelated to the game, and 50 game threads appear, by the end of the game that new, unrelated post is on the third page of the forum, and people coming to the forum after the game will never see that thread ever existed. It's like spamming some threads out of existence.

Genuine question j2. If you personally don't like seeing in game posts on the forum why do you visit the forum during those 90 minutes? I dont think people have had any issue with my non in game posts so I assume youre just referring to the in game ones and thats why I dont get so would like to understand better. Yeah I like others use the forum during a game. I like to. People know that there will be alot of posts many from the same posters during games so I dont understand if people dont want to see them during the 90 minutes whats your reason for using the forum during the 90 minutes when the only football discussion is gonna be the game being played.

Anyways. Its lovely to wake up following a win always sets the day up nicely :)

When you returned you said you weren't going to post during the match. Then there was a HT post and now it's quite a bit looking back at yesterday.

You're of course entitled to do that but it's probably not conducive to keeping calm as it tends to create instant reactions rather than reasoned thought which often then has to be rolled back.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really understand the need to rant.
I'll shout stuff at the game, or at the TV screen, but I don't understand needing to type it out in sentences and share it with the world. What did you do before the internet?

Id be at the games back then flash.

People do and deal with things in different ways I guess flash. I do find it helps me to write things down.
