Buy a scarifier....

£70 from screwfix (other shops are.available) and you can do in 10 minutes what takes hours if you do it by hand.

Not sure if I am happy at the labour saving device or peed off I've previosuly spent days needlessly getting blisters on my hands every spring in the Lagos v moss battle.

I've got blisters on my hands this week, but due to a totally different activity.

Filthy beast!

Apparently one in five lawns have been replaced by plastic grass. Awful for nature and means people have to hoover their lawns.

I used to live next door to a man who was so obsessed with having a perfect lawn he’d cut it most days with a push mower.

He wouldn’t let anyone, not his wife or children on it,only on special occasions as a treat sort of thing

My late uncle was like that.
Used to work for a couple in Solihull when I lived over in the midlands who had us cut the grass every week unless there was snow or frost. It was feckin huge and she liked having dead straight stripes to look at from the conservatory window. She would stand and watch to make sure there were no slight bends. Got really good at it to be honest 😁

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I once lived next door to a bloke who had no appreciation at all for a fine English garden. He was a bit of a scruffy sort but i used to invite him round once a year for a Pims party. The barbarian turned up with a six pack of lager and traipsed all over my lawn with his hobnail boots

Never again!

The best gardening advantage I have had this year has been employing my 17 year old grandson to help me.
He needs the cash and I need the heavy lifting, digging, fence painting and scarifying done.
But the main plus has been spending time with him and teaching him about horticulture.
Aparently plants need feeding like us. Who knew ?

Or get those strap on sandle type things with the spikes. Aerate and exercise in one!

We sow the seed.

Nature grows the seed.

We eat the seed.

I always asked the people if they fed their plants especially those that are in tubs, baskets or planters.. one old boy would always say ‘I gave them egg and chips yesterday’..

Clover lawns are pretty good too.

We have a marvellous display of dandelions at the moment. I suspect our neighbours aren't best pleased

From memory Lagos. You spent the week falling off a snowboard and sitting around in the snow!
