Will we crack on with plans for a new tier over the West Stand this summer or is it still a long term thing?

*assuming this is the plan before they then do the Cobbold.

Any such plans are always a bit of a risk. When the North and Churchmans were redeveloped I presume it was based on us staying in the Premier League. But bad investments on players and subsequently demotion and administration ripped the heart out of the club, consequently leading to Marcu Evans.
I am not of the opinion that a similar scenario exists today. The club is on a much better footing and there's also the parachute payments.
Of course recruitment needs to be top quality and I guess any development may depend on securing many seasons in the Premier League.
Which as we know is more difficult for a club the size of Town, competing with teams that can pay 100 million for a player and wages of £500,000 a week.
It can be done without massive spending as has been seen by several teams no bigger and perhaps slightly smaller than Ipswich Town.

It would be incredibly foolish/arrogant of the club. They'd be gambling millions on retrospective planning for both the works, and the precise design.

Unless, of course, they've already had productive talks with the Council, but that's a road I'd absolutely hate for us to go down.

The logistics also make this impossible. This isn't like deciding to knock up a shed, so let's go buy some wood from B&Q. This is a huge logistical undertaking sources enormous amounts of material, equipment and workforce that would have significant lead times. If they were ready to start at the end of the season, there'd be at minimum hundreds of people in the know and it would have spilled to the press rather than little whispers on a forum.

Hang on - if they were to put another 7k on to the West, then rebuild the Cobbold bigger so that holds say 8k, that gives us 45k in total which is bigger than Stamford Bridge or Villa Park.

That can't be right, surely.

Adding 7k to the West, and ADDING 8k to the Cobbold would give us around 45k, yes. But making a new Cobbold 8k in total surely wouldn't? Doesn't the Cobbold already hold something like 7k? It may be old, but we're not gonna rebuild it just to add 1k seats.

I can't see us getting to 45k in my lifetime in any event.

It would be nice to have 35k+, so that there are not thousands of disappointed potential ST holders in the good times.

I was told that immediately after the final game (hopefully tomorrow) that work would start on expanding the Pioneer stand by an extra 7000 seats, the same capacity as the Cobbold currently.

Shows how much I know - I thought the pioneer (west)was way bigger the Cobbold (East) .

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?
