Three managerial promotions with the same club? 18:27 - May 3 with 1054 viewsDarkBrandon

I was wondering how rare it was for a manager to achieve three promotions with one club (without leaving and returning). Not necessarily in three years. Just at all.

There presumably are loads of examples, but none that I can think of at the moment?

Can anyone else think of one?

Yes I know AI/google can give me the answer but I wondered if anyone can think of any without such assistance

Think the key is having a relegation in there which with a lot of clubs would mean the manager being sacked
Someone like Phil Parkinson is close but it’s all forward momentum

Paul Warne is another one that seems likely, he seemed to be forever getting Rotherham promoted and relegated.

Yes, very good.

Something like five changes of division in five years

One thing that struck me the other day is that if Middlesbrough go up, then Sarniento will have got promoted from the Championship in three consecutive years, with three different clubs. Doubt if anyone's done that before.

Given that the first 2 of those clubs came straight back down I wouldn't fancy Boro's chances next season if they win the playoffs

Dave Bassett had four promotions with Wimbledon.

And had a hound named after him as a result. Although why you’d name your dog Dave, I’ve no idea.
