So. Centre Back 17:17 - May 5 with 3104 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Well known that KMc likes to have two for each position

Is it going to be O'Shea, Greaves, Kipre and one new signing, O'Shea, Kipre and two new signings as Greaves will be back up to Leif.

Or do we move anyone else on from that department?

O'Shea is pretty much nailed on I'd say, but who his partner will be is perhaps less clear.

Poll: Is it more annoying when builders

You certainly cannot rip the team up. Too many are saying that virtually all the current team aren't good enough.
I have seen the centre backs questioned, the fullbacks, midfield and players like Philogene, Clarke and McAteer.
It simply doesn't make sense to change too many in all positions. You just end up like we did at the beginning of last season where it took months to get going.
At that rate by Christmas there would be no sense in worrying about making purchases in the January window as we would already be relegated.
It will take a very good transfer window if the amount available to spend is on similar lines to our last venture into the Premier League which was around £130 million.
You ain't gonna get 12 players for that money even allowing for loans.
I just hope that the scouting has sorted one or two gems from abroad. As I see it you would look at buying two at around £35 million and three at £20 million each. and maybe three loans. So eight in total.

Great post.

Once again half the board playing video games. (And many of them the same voices writing off this team and season earlier on... Funny that...)

We've clearly got a spine. I suspect KM will not want huge churn. We need to strengthen but I think 8 is about the right call. Players like DOS, Furlong, Greaves, Davis, Azor, Jaden, Clarke etc were all bought for their PL potential and in some cases experience.

I also think some of the squad players like Johnson and Taylor might well still be with us. They've done that job brilliantly.

I bet you that at least 12 new faces come in.

If you take the players you mentioned in this post

DOS, Furlong, Greaves, Davis, Azor, Jayden, Clarke, Johnson and Taylor

Add in

Walton, Nunez, Hirst, Azon, McAteer and Egeli

That leaves ten or so spaces in the squad to be filled. Just need to fill in those gaps

Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt

You might get there with the players we sign for the U21s again as we continue to strengthen there but there's no way imo that we will sign 12 starters.

Theres a spine and KM wanted that and won't discard it.

Just so you know how much of an outlier 8 would be, since the 2009/10 season, 8 is the fewest a newly promoted club has signed and it's only happened twice ... the recent trend is well over ten. A lot of teams playing video games ...

O'Shea plus one very expensive, experienced CB. Kipre and Greaves as back up, and maybe another.

New RB needed, and probably an experienced LB to compete with Leif.

Agreed. We need to spend big on a top PL centre back. DOS would be fine. But need another.

I think Greaves has a lot of potential but he's just spent the majority of the season out of favour to Kipre. We will aim to upgrade.

Adam Webster? Hear me out, only 30, bags of premier league experience, been here before, out of contract in the summer, so save money to spend on other areas of the pitch.
I was right about Ben Johnson being signed

It was Mark Ashton who signed him at Bristol City, so far from impossible.

Kipre I suspect won’t be here and we’ll sign two, it’s a shame O’Shea isn’t left side. They’re like rocking horse droppings and there’s some quality right sided options available .., Stones would be fantastic, but can’t see it working with O’Shea.

A left sided option a level above Greaves with him as cover for two positions.

I like Greaves coming in, he gets up to the level quicker than Kipre who looked great this season, apart from when he’s been out and come back looking like he needs to play a lot to be sharp.
