Players needed 12+
Starters needed 8-9

I don’t what to knock the squad build too much, a team that’s just got us promoted nonetheless and done very well to get over the line. However, there’s quite a scary amount of work to do. I really think there’s only 1 or 2 of our players that would of attracted any genuine PL interest if we had of stayed down. Levels.

We should be in a better league place to get it right this summer though.

I think the huge turnover of players have affected us, even this season it did, so I'd like less signings, or at least less going straight into the team.

I think we need : 2 x ST, RW, CM
I would try for a 433 system instead of the 4231 to try to give us more protection in midfield, but if McKenna wants to stick then another CAM too

Sunderland have done great, but they're perhaps a unique example. Leeds like us have been in the PL recently and signed less players but identified what they needed and got players who were a genuine step up in level to those they replaced

Leeds had a more PL ready squad when they got promoted last season.

I agree on all of those. You’ll get a bit of pushback on a few, like Kipre and Clarke. I think we need massive upgrades too. The only trouble is we’ve got to change our recruitment model as we don’t have the funds to sign that many proven players of high enough quality. Rather than overpaying like last time to bag good Championship players we’ll need to be saying picking up quality but with a focus on value for money. It’s doable as teams pick up bargains all the time, normally from overseas, but it’s bloody hard. I’m not sure our recruitment setup is ready for that.

It should be readier than 2 years ago. Still a lot of luck/judgement involved.

It's been obvious we have to change our recruitment model and seems some steps in that direction. There needs to be a proper expansive team and IMO eventually a director of football with top European experience. We may need to come back down and back up again at least once more to get everything in place, we will see.

People waxing lyrical about Kipre value is well and good but if he sees many minutes we are in trouble.

Clarke could be a good bench option but won't be very effective for us if we are not attacking IMO. He's had some very ineffective 90 minutes on the road this season any time a team went man to man and is quite lightweight not the best defensively. Game changer as in the champ and still has super sub potential in the PL, but if a very good offer came in I would listen.

Major work for me this summer, IMHO. At least 8 new starters and probably between 12-14 in total. Appreciate a lot I’ve got down as sell may have to be loans, but that’s where I sit on it all.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Walton, Palmer, Kipre, Furlong, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis, Matusiwa, Burns, Philogene, Clarke, Nunez, Mehmeti, Azon & Hirst should all stay as squad players. That leaves 11 players needed. I think 1x GK, 1x CB, 1 x RB, 1 x LB, 3x MID, 2x AM & 2 x CF. I think that will cost £150M.
GK £5M
CB £10M
LB £10M
RB £10M
MID £35M (total)
AM £30M (total)
CF £50M (total)

BIG, BIG summer ahead. All those not on my list go with my thanks.

So you wouldn't add to the backline.. at all ?

I’d really like to see some pace at the back, the amount of times we get caught on the break and we have covering defenders but then it all opens up because they can’t keep up and then the inevitable fouls get committed

I don't think we can make that many changes and succeed. Mckenna needs a well oiled unit. Just look at how slowly we started this season.

We need a CM and striker for certain. Right wing needs dealing with. Probably right back too. Possibly another CB.

Other positions I think we need decent squad players5,not first choice.

If we have to change more I can't see us staying up.

We don't have 5-6 PL starters in our squad, we would go down.

Your thinking is not too far away from mine. Though at least for this season i'd want both Philogene/Clarke at the club as an insurance policy - as we could get most things right and still go down and if anyone is a 'cheat code' in the Champ, it's them ( sorry Jens )

I also want to give both of them a chance at the highest level now they are more settled into the club.

Sunderland are the blueprint for us - their squad on promotion was worse than ours. I'd love to know how they gelled so quickly, almost immediately.
