Perhaps Ashton was ahead of the curve when meeting with Farage then?

I had the same thought... I wonder if the club had heard on the grapevine that this was likely to happen and wanted to discuss issues.

I assume any existing & future planning applications for works by the club will now be going through Reform SCC?

If so then obviously a smart move by Ashton to get Farage onside to help with this.

Makes no sense. If it was official, then why try and cover it up and deny we invited them? Unless he does have a hint of a conscience I suppose and realised it was disrespectful to the sitting council and wouldn’t go down well. In which case why not just wait a few weeks and not create KM and the team an unwanted distraction?

Conservative had control for the past 2 decades

Do we consider Reform to be new Tories and that nothing much will change (aside from Ipswich hospital being shut down imminently)?

Not sure what's worse, the future for Suffolk now it's got a Reform council or the absolute boll0cks being spouted on this thread.

I can't keep up. I thought we had moved on from talking about Ashton because it was boring?

If it’s like other reform led councils they’ll try and scrap any funding aimed towards equality initiatives. Just think mini-DOGE as in the US, but luckily they can still be challenged as (for now) we’re still protected in England and Wales through law.

They’ll also waste money on vanity projects, cancelling and diverting money from already approved projects that would have benefited residents. And expect a higher than normal rate of suspensions and resignations as it’s revealed there are a number of racists and perverts amongst their ranks. There are loads of examples of all of the above from their various existing councils.

That would be the borough council.

I think that most reasonable people felt that meeting Farage while he was in the area in order to pave the way for a smooth process of developing Portman Road was a reasonable thing to do. I said as much at the time.

It was giving Reform the run of the place and providing the props for them to make a load of promotional material and lying about it afterwards that we have a problem with.

Not really. Suffolk only deals with planning for Minerals, Waste and County council developments, such as schools or fire stations.
Ipswich Borough didn't have enough seats up to go to Reform.
These elections are a waste of money as neither will exist in 2 years.

If I've understood the maths correctly, Labour can't lose IBC as 25 of their councillors on a 48 seat council are not up for election.

Is that MP for Clacton Nigel Farage? Yes, meeting with the MP for Clacton is a vital step in the regeneration of Portman Road.

Lot of tribal dimwits in the country then hey mate ? Nearly every council now has an awful lot of Reform councillors in them. What actually gives you the right to call people that anyway ? The dimwits are people like you who keep berating others just because they don’t have the same view as you. Nothing to say you are any better or any more right than those with opposite views. Just you giving it the big one. You don’t even live around here anyway, go tend your leaks.

Yes, that's the chap. Having checked a variety of sources I also see that he's the national leader of a UK political party likely to gain a significant number of seats on both the county and borough councils at the upcoming (at the time) elections.

And in this case, a leader who sets the tone for what the whole party does.

Yep. SCC is not the planning authority for anything ITFC related.

Still nothing to do with SCC. Would be an East Suffolk Council decision.
