Perhaps Ashton was ahead of the curve when meeting with Farage then?

Maybe I'm feeling especially pessimistic after today, but I'm not sure that's the case?

It's a small sample, but take a look at the Norfolk County Council results:

https://elections.norfolk.gov.

Even where they've lost seats (barring Yarmouth, which is a bit of a special case) they've polled at least 25% of the vote.

If we're looking at there being five major parties on the ballot in 2029, they'll only need a minimum of 20%-25% of the vote in some seats, assuming that there'll be a fair few four-way marginal.

Given the success Reform have had today, and the incredibly low bar of the FPTP system, I think they'll be all but there in 2029 based on today's figures.

Then the only answer is a form of proportional representation. Voted agaist by both the tories and labour in their time.
But that was when we only had 2 parties (sorry lib dems but nobody takes you seriously).
That will ensure a reasonable representation of all parties and take out all extremism.

Except it's IBC who the club will be working with on that and they're already onside.

Ah, now the problem here Mr Ham is that you’re offering facts.

On your final point, that's very clear. Greens have won a lot of rural seats, plus (it seems) better off medium sized towns? Reform have done better in suburban seats and less well off urban seats.

Almost as though Reform appeal to working class voters and the Greens to middle class liberal elites!!

I just feel sorry for the SCC staff who'll have to work with the new councillors.

This isn't the worst thing in the world, it gives people a couple of years to figure out that Reform have neither the will nor the competence to actually run a council, let alone the country.

I just want to know where they stand on a Northern Bypass.

Get it done!

Doubt any decision on a northern by pass will be made until long after the Mayoral election due to be held in two years time. The person elected will control major developments in the six council areas that currently make up Norfolk & Suffolk.

Might have a northern by pass something in the next decade.
