Although he lost, that is the fight to retire on.

Nothing more to prove.

I'd be worried if he fights on, considering the amount of punishment he took tonight.

I also think, tactically, he was sadly exposed by Dubois. But not many people can say they were world champion plus the fact he took so much punishment and continued to stand will see his name go down in folklore.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

An absolutely incredible fight both gave it them all.

Really it should have been stopped the previous round if not the one before. Fabios nose was bust several rounds ago and his right eye had closed.

Maybe Fabio went a bit too much for it in the earlier rounds as Dubois is known to take a knee and get back up. Fabio was also too readable in his punches didnt through enough jabs to keep him off him.

The better boxer won that overall, but Fabio isnt miles away but took too much punishment out there I hope he is ok.

Warren already stared there was a rematch clause which any champion will insert.

Would love to see this again, but Fabio needs to be smarter in terms of his defence and getting behind his jab.

Fair play Dubois out boxed our warrior...both were knackered but Fabio shipped a huge amount of punishment and the towel should have been thrown in when Fabio couldn't find his corner.

No need for a rematch Wardley, despite his bravery, isn't up there with the elite. God forbid he got in the ring with Moses Itauma.

The anti boxing brigade will love this.

And rightly so.

I like boxing but that was too much punishment and just wasn't entertaining in the end.
Fair play to Fabio's heart but his corner let him down.
They should have thrown in the towel at the end of the 10th and probably earlier.
He was even staggering about as he left the ring.
He'll get checked out of course but I hope he's OK.

"Look, I don't wanna be the same as everybody else. That's why I'm a Mod, see?"

Agreed it should have been stopped Fabio was in no state to continue. Fabio was dabbing his nose several rounds earlier which is not a good sign.

As you say first up make sure Fabio is ok because his style is just one punch could knock out his opponent but it was clear he was gassed and damaged.

Boxing is obviously an incredibly damaging sport and Fabio gave it his all and hurt Dubois but lost his way in the middle rounds and was too limited against a more technical boxer who went back to basics and picked him off.

Disagree the belt holder will always insert a rematch clause. Fabio is up there in terms of his power punches but his foot work and defence lapses. Heart will only get you so far as we've seen tonight.

If Fabio had taken the early knock downs and kept jabbing more and not throwing wild hooks after the initial success it might have been different.

Fabio is up there but needs to work on his obvious weaknesses and at time tonight in the earlier round he looked a bit better.

Look at the end of the day all heavy weights are warriors and throw bombs that would kill all of us. If a few more of his punches had landed in the earlier rounds it would have been Dubois who was knocked out.

I hope he’s alright and can step away healthy, can retire with the boxing world thinking he’s the toughest they’ve seen in recent times. Must be better having that respect than any belt

Step away healthy despite having his head smashed in for that many round beyond what it should have been? Yeah sure, he’ll be fine…no brain damage at all from that one.

Right decison, finally. Fabio's got great spirit, and a great chin, but he needs more if he's going to hit the heights again.

He’s needs to win a title fight to be World Champion. He hasn’t managed it yet and until he does he’s not a World Champion in my eyes

You made a similar comment in the news story. There might be an element of truth in what you say, but then again all decisions are subjective processes whether in or out of the ring - only a knockout is absolute.

What I don't get is why you'd be motivated to make that comment, and repeat it, after the extraordinary courage Fabio showed last night. Is there some ulterior motive?

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

No negative motive. Just my opinion. Was handed the belts by default. I appreciate that’s the rule of the governing body but he didn’t win the title. Had he won last night then fair enough. However he didn’t.

I think he’s a good ambassador for the club and Ipswich , I’m sure he’s a good guy, but unless he wins a title fight I don’t think he should be recognised as a World Champion.

In fairness to his corner he was still throwing in that big punch, even though he was gassed, I was surprised the Doctor didn't stop it to be honest though...

He'll do well to come back from that cut in the near future, may even need surgery...

I’ll be honest, I’m a boxing fan & obviously big fan of Fabio, but I had to turn it off after about 6 rounds. That was a tough watch & like others have said, the ref/corner probably let it go way too long. Hopefully no serious long term damage done to Fabio & he can go again
