This is in Spain by gtsb196617 May 18:44 It's ridiculous and people on here wonder why Farage is doing so well. I know you like him but I hate Farage but I also hate how immigration in this country has got out of control. I mentioned the Albanians but you can add Romania to that too. Look at the news from all over the country when it comes to drug dealing. Look at the Countries they come from. We should be much much harder on deportation and it should be a lot quicker.

It is racist when you attack a whole group of people based on their ethnicity because of a few wrong ‘uns, as these people are doing. It the very definition of racism. There are good and bad people everywhere. Race doesn’t determine whether someone is bad or not.
claiming that every albanian refugee is a criminal would of course be entirely wrong and discriminatory. but pretending there isn't a genuine issue here, as if the link between crime and nationality is unmentionable, is also wrong. the most recent conviction rate for albanians in the uk is 4028 per 10,000. for british nationals it's 136 per 10,000. obviously care is needed in a direct comparison because of differences in age and demographics. according to the police albanians are now the dominant group in organised drug crime. they are major participants in crime linked to rouge shops. none of this existed 10 years ago. there has been a crack down on albanian arrivals for this very reason and the numbers arriving are now low, but it's not illegitimate to discuss crime patterns and the role of disorganised migration - and when those links are pretty visible on high streets you only empower extremists by pretending that it can't be mentioned.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

The police in the UK have defended "racial profiling" when they use stop-and-search on the grounds that certain ethnic groups are more likely to be carry knives and to commit crime. However, the reality is that while some ethnic minorities are statistically more likely to offend, the underlying reason is often that these ethnic minorities are poorer and poor people are more likely to commit crime.

Exactly. Akala speaks very well on this subject. For example, when knife crime happens in London, it's a 'black' problem. When knife crime happens in Glasgow, skin colour is never mentioned.

when have the uk police ever defended "racial profiling"? it would undoubtedly breach equalities law. policing is certainly based on geography and behavioural triggers - and those things lead to a disproportionate impact on some groups - but "racial profiling" is not something the uk police have ever accepted. so your post starts from a false assumption.

The police have not defended racial profiling recently, especially as it is unlawful, but stats indicate that a person from an ethnic minority is far more likely to be stopped and searched.
