Other jinx we need to end on 16:23 - May 21 by RIPbobby
I used to have that video. For the youngsters reading this around this period there was a blanket ban on any football on TV. I think it was in place for a season or two. No match of the day or anything. It was a weird time.
A blanket ban on football on TV? Why?
There used to only be the FA Cup Final live and Match of the Day highlights in the evening.

This explains some of it. Hence that video from 86 was all we got that year. Football was very much a working class man's game and not liked by many. Fascinating to see how different it is today...

One which we hopefully won't get a chance to end for a while is a league win in Oxford. The only one in the club's history was a 4-1 success over Oxford City in the Southern Amateur League in February 1913.
Have we ever beaten Cheltenham home or away?

So it wasn't a ban but there was no televised live football for the first half of that season due to the lack of an agreement being reached. Did it mean no Match of the Day as well?
I don't recall it at all personally despite it being well within my living memory.
