Eighty of your finest English pounds (or Scottish).

Does everyone remember how difficult they were to get over your head?
I once couldn't get mine back off and thought I was going to have to die in it.

Edit: Sorry, forgot it was 23 years ago. Does everyone old enough to remember recall how small the neck was.

I’m more puzzled by whatever happened to txu energy.

Can’t recall whether they were ever a serious player in the UK gas and electric industry but I haven’t heard them mentioned for decades…

It used to great on here when people let me say whatever I wanted and giggled along - (Rough translation of post from un-named TWTD contributor, 2026)

Did they go pop and Powergen picked them up, or was it just a takeover?

I think it was the latter, but happy to be corrected, think they were a US energy company weren't they?

I worked for Eastern Electricity/TXU Energi as a young 'un.

In 1999, the trading department was highly successful and TXU bought out Eastern Electricity basically to gain the trading asset. They then effectively shut down the rest of the business, selling off the bits they didn't want. I got out with a very tidy voluntary redundancy package after just 2 years working there. IIRC, it was equivalent to about 9 months wages. They were desperate to get rid of staff in large numbers. Very odd.

80 pounds seems very high to me, I have one signed by all the players and I am not going to sell it.

So you’re saying, if you did sell it, it would be for a lot more than 80 quid?

£91 now.. wow last time I looked more like £30.

First towen shirt I bought it was my pride and joy! Wore it regularly, still have it and yes the neck was small, the V stitching started to separate pulling it over my head.

Maybe I just have a big head!

No as I said 80 pounds seems very high to me for a old shirt that can be picked up in the Op shop for about 5 pounds. EG the Town shirt with the laces at the neck I got for 2 pounds. As I said I would not sell it. In may will at my funeral I have asked that people wear my collection of old football shirts, Ipswich and others from around the world.
