Play off final this afternoon another player got sent off for a VAR review of the slightest instinctive pull on an opponent's hair. I understand the reason for the rule and I get there cannot be any grey area but it did seem somewhat harsh and beyond what the rule was brought in for. The offender was trying to grab the opponent's upper shirt sleeve and got hair very briefly but long enough for it to be obviously hair.

Didn't see it but assume if he hadn't been trying to cheat - grab the upper shirt sleeve - his hand wouldn't have been anywhere near the hair. I do think hairnets should be compulsory though if it's longer than collar length.

Now that I've seen the highlights of the league one play off I get it. Having long hair does look like it could be an advantage given the temptation to pull it.
