Agree it would be ideal if we can get a few in early. The slight change this season is the extended international break which happens quite early in the season. That will give new arrivals (who aren't away playing internationals) some more concentrated training time with McKenna. | |

We all say this every year and those who hold all the cooking oil are thinking that. But I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Remember that we are fishing in a really small pond now. We are looking for players that are better than we already have and also players with potential. In a normal year this is tough, but a world cup year it is really tough because we lose five weeks.
I have said many times that I love the Senegal team. They have several already established players that would cost lots. But there may well be some teenagers in the squad that won't play and are going for the experience. I'd be looking at them and see if they fit into areas that we need to improve.
The other market is South America. Must find some gems from there... Ala Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford.

They've signed a contract with Gordon, but he's not registered as their player until 1st July, when the Spanish window opens. That has probably been in negotiation for weeks.
Everybody knows that clubs can arrange things beforehand and deals can be done. Technically, we've already signed Kipre and Akpom in anticipation of 15th June. But there's always likely to be less action before the window, as players, agents and administrators will be on holiday.
Plus transfer windows always start slowly and build to a crescendo in the final days. Many free agents will become available on 30th June, when their contracts run out. | |

Surely he signed the pre-contract contract or it is dated to a date that the window opens. It is a bit of a risk for Barca, remember what happened to that lad who was flying to Cardiff and the plane crashed in the Solent. I think everyone has to be careful and I am sure there are clauses in there that stop the Cardiff incident happening again. I'm sure they still had to pay the continental club too. I dont want to come across as negative, more realistic, but there has to be a very real chance we are unable to secure any serious targets until after the world cup once the market opens up and starts moving. Unless we are in the driving seat on valuation there isnt a whole lot of point in teams selling players until they can make progress on securing their own replacement.
