I know they don't have to, but does anyone know why the club choose not the publish the retained list until 1st week in June, when it has to be submitted to the EFL on 3rd Saturday in May?
Looking at the BBC site, it's only ourselves, Soton and Hull who haven't published their lists for 25/26.
Is it because we'd prefer to make one announcement, rather than say 'contract negotiations are ongoing' with Wes etc?

TBF Wes will probably fall into the 'offered a new contract' category.
But the retained list will tell us if we've triggered contract extensions for Harry Clarke/Cam Humphreys and if we've released Button and Townsend.

I find this new interest in retained lists very odd. It's only really been a thing anyone cared about recently and I just don't get it? Firstly, why would a fan forum know before the club has announced it, and aside from the odd releases, which will be reported when it comes out, given how modern football works, whoever is on it as retained is just as likely to be sold as they are playing for us next season anyway. |  |

I don't think anyone expects the fan forum to know.... But I'm sure a lot of us want to know if the likes Humphreys / Burns are going to be with us next season.
What else is there to do?!?!? Gotta wait over 2 months for the next town game.... Can't wait!!! | |

Glad I’m not the only one. I swear it was never a thing for us. It’s something I’ve always associated with lower league clubs who probably don’t have as many players on long contracts. |  |
