| who if kmc does go.... 10:37 - Jun 1 with 5923 views | keanekipper | Just some idle speculation if kmc does go who and what would people fancy as the next manager? A proven safety manager like dyche? a young high level coach like mckenna? a football league hot property? a foreign unknown with good results and reputation.? A name which recently failed like frank? I think at this stage of the club development i would be inclined to go for dyche, we need to stay in the prem and establish, he would also give us a great chance of coming back again. | | | | |
| who if kmc does go.... on 17:52 - Jun 2 with 698 views | alial | My left field suggestion is Amorim. His style of play would suit us in the Premier League - the 3-4-3 giving us a back 5 in defence and attacking wing backs. The back 5 being something most fans called for last time in the Prem. People will point at Utd and his failure but a) that was a poisoned chalice than even he didn’t want to join mid-season and b) you don’t become a bad coach overnight. I agree with other posters in we need a coach not a manager. We have shown we are willing to invest in McKenna with one of the highest paid contracts in the league so my view is very much the sky is the limit. Whilst I get the idea of another young English coach, I think given the position the club is in and when you look at Sunderland in particular, I think sometimes you have to approach it at a different angle and try something very different. Would very much prefer McKenna to stay, but much more prepared than the last few seasons for him to leave! | | | |

| who if kmc does go.... on 13:01 - Jun 1 by Plums | Agreed TalkSport reporting…. by Plums 1 Jun 12:57I'm very wary about Frank. The success of Brentford is built on the infrastructure and footballing DNA of the club, the manager is charged with implementing that.
Frank did a great job of it and Andrews has now picked up the baton. There's nothing from Frank's tenure at Spurs that says anything other than he struggled in the PL without that in place.
If we lose KM, we're in for root and branch change which is high risk and potentially, high reward.
Whatever will be, will be. But I'm not convinced the answer is Frank. |
Spurs was and is a basket case if ego, and mismanagement at every level - they did worse when he left. He’s a wonderful coach - only concern is talent ID, he doesn’t do that - but then neither do Ashton and McKenna and his knowledge of how it worked in an elite environment can only add value. Compare Franks record at an elite level to McKenna.., it’s not even close. McKenna is very young, he might have a higher ceiling; he might not. But if you were staring out McKenna wouldn’t be close to the preferred candidate.., but these things are funny .., very likely when making contingencies McKenna was ‘attainable’ and Frank wasn’t and they’ve closely followed McKenna - in that context he could get the Fulham gig. Frank is proven coach at this level. McKenna isn’t.

Whilst I'm sure you're right (as ever, eh Wallers), for some reason Fulham have always been the team I've been nervous about being a threat at KMcK leaving. Not sure why, and hopefully unfounded, but last few years have been bracing for an approach from them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| who if kmc does go.... on 10:12 - Jun 3 with 164 views | burnbudgiesburn | I think all the reasons listed he wouldn't go to Fulham are valid and would be weird to jump into a worse job than he turned down 2 years ago at Brighton. But, I wonder if the biggest con about him staying is him thinking of the potential of 2/2 relegations on his c/v and what that would do for his future prospects. I mean we could do really well, and most things right and still get relegated such is the level of the PL. | | | |

I do agree he won’t want 2/2 relegations on his CV but what he 100% will not want is 2 relegations with 2 different clubs. Fulham are losing 25(?) goals from last season team and the manager played a big part on why they stayed up / finished mid table last couple of seasons. I think we will be battling with Fulham at the lower end of the table next year, alongside Hull, Coventry, Sunderland and Palace (finished 15th, poor prem season but now have European football)…
