Carlos Cuesta (Parma) 23:09 - Jun 10 with 1189 viewsradiogaga

I doubt we will appoint an overseas manager as historically we’ve not done that to date, but as a left field suggestion Carlos Cuesta ticks a lot of boxes/ a number of similarities of sorts with McKenna. Like McKenna, a very short playing career and subsequently coached in the Prem for a few years under Arteta at Arsenal before moving out to management. Has adapted to Serie A management smoothly and has had a very good first season with Parma. Replaced Chivu at Parma after he left to join Inter/ Cuesta’s numbers were noticeably better than Chivu who won the league with Inter this season. Someone who clearly has some potential in him/ has already demonstrated at a smaller top flight team.

The type of appointment I'd back. If not the actual person, though he's done well for himself. Personally I just get tired of seeing the same old names bandied about like yesterdays left overs. " Faint heart never won fair lady ". We've thought outside the box once, we can do it again.

My pick too, and have had him in mind for the past few seasons for when McKenna had decided to move on. Great pedigree, used to English football, and already proving himself in Serie A. Ashton if you're reading this..

I'm also a fan, he's very much in that group of very young yet exceptional coaches along with Farioli and Hurzeler. I certainly wouldn't mind it. I've noticed Miguel Molina being touted too, another fantastic coach.

If I remember correctly Knapper tried to persuade Cuesta to take the Norwich job post Wagner in 2024 but got rejected and Carlos stayed with Arsenal. Seems a sensible lad!

Historically how many times have we hired a premier league manager? Last one being in 1994 burley. In today's market I expect we will be looking abroad (I hope given some of the English names mentioned on here)

Yup, he’d be my choice.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Hiring a 30 year old manager has Ashton written all over it. I’m in.

I'm surprised he's not more talked about.

Young innovative coach first manager, impressed last year with a bottom half Serie A team playing a pragmatic 5-3-2 formation.

Speaks Italian, Spanish and English and has a real global network having worked at Atleti, Juventus and Arsenal in coaching roles.

Despite his age, he would tick an awful lot of boxes in terms of the clubs International evolution.

After having a little google, I'd be happy with this

I'm not sure Palace were every really interested in Toppmöller, I think some journalist just suggested that as he was Glasner's replacement at Frankfurt maybe they could repeat the magic.

His record isn't bad, but a bit limited to Frankfurt and some obscure minor leagues. Assistant to Nagelsmann for a while so who knows, I'd be very surprised if he was on the list though.
