| Lawn re-turfing advice please. 09:03 - Jun 17 with 1289 views | ITFCson | Looking to freshen up the lawn - not massive, about 60 sq meters. Anyone have any idea on the kind of price for a professional to supply and install the turf? | | | | |

| Lawn re-turfing advice please. on 10:02 - Jun 17 with 1088 views | UB9Blue | I laid my own but used Ipswich Turf for supply and their product was very good. My brother is a landscape gardener and he reckons it was the best turf he has ever used. | | | |

Thanks for the reply. I have contacted Ipswich Turf and already received a quote. Sadly I am lazy and useless at DIY so will need them to lay it too

Anything less and your lovely new lawn will fail :)

This. My honest suggestion would be to either wait till September, or early Spring, to do it. Doing it at this time of year will mean you'll need to water it like mad to keep it alive and healthy. Appreciate that it's nice to have a lawn that looks good for Summer though.

Once it's laid it will have few roots. In the forthcoming heat it will need watering every day but not during the worst of the sun. Evening or when the sun will no longer be on it is the best time. Try not to walk on it for a while as well. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

My landscaping mate reckons that a lawn laid/seeded in the Autumn gives a much better result than one created in the Spring It gets the Winter to establish and strengthen, then the full benefit of the Spring flush before the rigours of Summer Late September/ early October was his advice

Just had ours laid, gaps have knitted, watering daily, looks lovely but growing fast! Need a decent, cheapish, lawnmower (can be a push one, not electric) Any advice?

Very sound advice. The root system will develop more quickly as the soil is much warmer too. I always advise laying turf in autumn to my clients.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Depends on the size of your new lawn. My advice would be though not to buy a really cheap mower as the cut won’t be great. Something with a Briggs and Stratton petrol engine or alternatively, there are some decent rechargeable battery options out there now.

Thanks mate, I know this is a bad time to do it. I wish I considered it early in the year. The kids (4 and 7) are always out there kicking a ball, I fully accept it will not stay nice for long. But if the quote is reasonable and I end up getting it done every couple of years then so be it.
