Managers with Premier League Experience ... 11:04 - Jun 18 with 1632 viewsBellevue_Blue

Phil understands 'Town are looking for a manager with experience in the Premier League this time around and not someone in the mould of McKenna when he was appointed in December 2021'

So realistic appointments are ...

Dyche
OGS
O'Neil
Cooper

I was excited this was going to be positive change and another step forward for our club. I'm not sure I'd be happy with appointing any of them if we were still in the Championship!

You could write quite the list of successful hires that didn’t have English experience let alone premier league experience

Brendan Rodgers earns an estimated annual salary of roughly £12 million ... is it realistic he takes a more than 50% haircut?

Ralph Hasenhuttl hasn't done much to improve his rep since he was sacked by Soton leaving that established Prem squad in the relegation zone.

That would be a pretty tough sell.

Couldn't see Rodgers asking for a number 1 all over, no.

Depends on how ambitious he is.

We have seen players leave Saudi.

And unsuccessful ones.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

This thread has prompted me to look at who is managing which nation at the World Cup, here are the ones that have also managed in the Premier League (just in case Ashton has already spoken to them and is waiting for their nation to exit the tournament before an announcement):

Ralf Rangnick
Carlo Ancelotti
Jesse Marsch
Dick Advocaat
Thomas Tuchel...
Ronald Koeman
Roberto Martinez
Julen Lopetegui
Graham Potter
Marcelo Bielsa
Maricio Pochettino

There's also Steve Clarke who has been an assistant manager in the Premier League, but he is going to be given a ten year contract to continue as Scotland coach after the victory in the final.

You spelled "after the victory in the first game" wrongly.

I suggested that Steve Clarke could have his contract renewed on that day but I made no assumptions about which teams would be playing in the final...

I mean if it’s premier league experience plus MA’s usual criteria (young/British) it’ll be Gary O’Neil. I’m not sure who else it could be to be honest

Was he not manager at Chelsea and West Brom in the prem or is my memory making things up. I remember him being great for both and it’s no surprise he’s doing well as Scotland coach. Would be a name I’d like to see but realistically managers at the World Cup I think won’t happen.

You're right about West Brom, I was only thinking about his time with Mourinho at Chelsea. And he was caretaker at Newcastle United for one match too, after which he continued working under Bobby Robson. It's nailed on now.
