At least it gives the team and Tuchel the chance to get the excuses in before a disaster happens rather than after, which is a little bit more palatable for them. Honestly think the only solution is to call FIFA's bluff. Tell them in advance that we won't play the match unless they get the authorities to disperse all the noisemakers. This type of situation is becoming rife for big games, and it needs to stop. The threat of not playing would be enormously damaging, and FIFA have the clout to force local authorities to act. |

So would I. Unfortunately if you can't beat them you have the choice of joining them or not. It shouldn't make any difference as far as noise is concerned, with the variety of devices these days to keep sound out. As for " something in the food " well I doubt that would happen again, be extremely obvious. That of course leaves the one thing that no one can do anything about, the altitude. The Mexican players only play at that altitude when they play at the Azteca, which infrequently hosts matches outside of World Cups and World Cup qualifiers. They'll have an edge there, but not as great as some fear. It's simple, if we're good enough ( and we should be ) we'll win, if we're not, we wont. Wouldn't be a great look to be knocked out by an average team who's front line is led by an English Championship striker age 35. This is a game for making the ball do the work, not trying to run around like the duracell bunny. Play quicker in short bursts only. Whether we have that ability in the team, we'll fairly soon find out. | | | |

It seems that something has been said that has persuaded the Mexican authorities to properly police the area surrounding the hotel. They wouldn't have just done it out of the goodness of their hearts, would they?
