One thing that Burns has, even at his age, is pace, something rather lacking in the team, Davis and Akpom perhaps excepted. Indeed, hopefully this will be an area we concentrate on when we look to strengthen this squad season.

I'm expecting him to be our Aluko/Young kind of older head for the squad. Fleeting appearances, but mainly there to help knit the squad, and help the leadership team bringing some continuity.

Does O'Neil have a reputation for wanting to have an experienced older head in his squads?

Even if he does, I'm not sure that Wes would fit that description. No significant PL experience, and not quite old enough. If we were to look for another of those players, I'd want someone in the Ashley Young mould again.

If we're going to play breaking counterattacks, pace is something we will need. Plus, despite often needing a sighter or two, Burns knows how to score.
