England hotel surrounded by booing Mexico supporters 11:14 - Jul 4 with 4977 viewsmuccletonjoe

Loud music being played all night , virtually unable to move from their hotel rooms.
This has all the hallmarks of Mexico 1970, when the England team, then as holders were surrounded by various controversies , not least of which was a dreamt up charge against Bobby Moore of stealing from a jewellery shop, followed later in the tournament by Gordon Banks being laid low with food poisoning. It wasn't lost on anyone that these were 2 of our best players. Backs against the wall stuff tomorrow ni⁰ght. Because on top of times being moved forward and back again by FIFA , they also have the altitude of the aztec stadium to deal with. No matter how they play, they will recieve no criticisms on this one from me

Don't most of the kids have noise-cancelling headphones nowadays?

Or at least some hotel outside the city in a park setting with a perimeter that could have been security protected?

You would book a big campus style hotel which fans can get no where near.

Get the noise cancelling headphones out.

Job done.

I expect that Mexico would've blocked that. They've probably booked a whole complex to themselves, and even if they haven't, why would the hotel want to risk upsetting their deal with the Mexico setup for one game.

I read that they'd bought noise cancelling headphones. I also read that they were keeping the hotel a secret but then they turn uo with England emblazoned on the coach. I guess the police protection has disappeared now. Why are they being allowed to host a world cup again.

This is pretty normal in a number of countries not just Mexico, and far more is being made of it in the media than actually has any real impact on the players.

The FIFA nonsense about kickoff will have had no impact on the team as nothing has fundamentally changed, I’m pretty sure that the FA behind the scenes would have simply told the team not to worry they will sort it so will not have changed any routines.

It’s all media fuss, and hotel / noise etc will have certainly be planned for by the FA. Players need to get on with it.

Outside of your base camp, once through to knockout stages teams will be dependent on whether they have been confident enough to pre reserve a suitable hotel or been dependent on the use of FIFA pre approved and reserved rooms.

Considering teams need upwards of 40 or 50 rooms at least, plus ability to take over food prep and fitness centres it’s not as easy as just booking a nice resort space.

I don’t think he was serious surely, he has to be aware that FIFA operational rules keep opposing teams strictly apart in the lead-up to a match, plus as co-hosts, Mexico get first pick of Mexico City hotels and training facilities under FIFA’s TBC allocation system, similar to how England got only third choice in Kansas City behind Argentina and the Netherlands.

England, as the visiting team for this one-off tie, book separately, usually from FIFA’s list of vetted alternative hotels in the host city.

Considering all the £millions of other expenses; their good chances of getting this far; & what's riding on the result, I'd say they should have gone for it & reserve booked ahead.

Do you honestly think it has not been considered. Almost certainly FIFA approved hotels will have provisionally been held by FIFA, therefore England’s options are very limited. Look at the challenges we had with getting the base camp we wanted.

Wouldn't it be brilliant if it turned out all the Mexcio fans had been making a racket outside a hotel full of England squad lookalikes, who had turned up in a fake team bus and everything.

I thought that was Don Revie.

And Don wasn't averse to getting stuck in with a deep muscle massage on some of his Leeds players. Couldn't believe watching a clip of Don grabbing some naked ass on a massage table.
Thought I'd stumbled on a gay porn channel.

Honestly think the only solution is to call FIFA's bluff. Tell them in advance that we won't play the match unless they get the authorities to disperse all the noisemakers. This type of situation is becoming rife for big games, and it needs to stop. The threat of not playing would be enormously damaging, and FIFA have the clout to force local authorities to act.

Poll: would you rather
