I doubt they need to pay, as there’ll be a queue of agents looking for free publicity to try and leverage better deals out of clubs. They’ll also recycle rumours others have circulated. Beyond that, no idea if they have any specific contacts / exclusive intel. Probably not, as there’s always a bunch of press involved with clubs. Sky seem to have a fairly good handle on the difference between rumour and deals. I think they must have strong relationships with agents for mutual benefit along the lines of how you report it.
