That’s obviously one of the biggest games in our history and I’m completely shocked at our approach after going 1-0 up.
Not least because Argentina have shown you what they are all summer. They’re not a side full of world class players, they’ve got the GOAT and a team that will give everything to win. We had them fairly quiet and they were worried, they wanted a scrap because they were scared of our pace. Their defense is bang average at best.
To invite that kind of pressure is utterly mind blowing. To give Messi that entire pocket of space and sit in a bank of 10, what on earth was he thinking?! He was brought in for the very reason to make the right calls in this scenarios when the lights were shinning brightest. The irony is, it was more negative than Southgate in the end. Has there EVER been a game where it was painfully obvious they were going to at least get back to 1-1 and likely win than what we were watching? I wasn’t even excited on 84 minutes, there was about a 5% chance we were going to see that out.
We needed runners, we needed players with the ability to get on the ball, we needed bravery, we didn’t need to chuck on Konsa (with 30 minutes left) and Burn and hope for the best. Every single time we ran at them they were in trouble. We should have kept pressing and brought the legs on. Both of their CBs on a booking.
We literally opened the door, it was like shooting and crossing practice, they won’t believe their luck.
Been lucky enough to go to quite a few of the England games in the tournament and I thought he made some good subs throughout but tonight in the biggest moment, it was all too familiar.
I’m not sure he can even stay for the next Euros, that was our opportunity and we basically waived the white flag, to those fookers as well of all nations. Could have got to our first World Cup final in 60 years and ended Messi’s int career tonight.
Gutted and completely baffled at the same time. People will be talking about this coaching performance for a long long time.

I think we're pretty much all on the same page with this. What was really frustrating was not so much that he switched to the low block, it was more that it was clear it was not working and we had several warning shots and he doubled down on something ordinary punters who have never played the game or managed could see was fatal. He could easily have brought on attackers for attackers and got the press going again. |  |

With the talent we have in England we tried to win the game with Dan Burn heading the ball away or Pickford not getting beaten from distance. How many CB did we have on at the end?
Rashford and Saka on would have been at least an injection of pace against their rubbish full backs and giving them something to think about. we gave them nothing to think about and the best player on the planet a pocket of space to win the game.

The only saving grace was... well there are two for me... firstly, it was so obvious we would concede at least one after Tuchel's tactical brain fart that there was little nervous jeopardy and two, I was completely spannered by then and didn't really give a hoot!
In the cold light of today however, it's really, really disappointing. Such a good chance to get to the final and play a strong but mainly prosaic and beatable Spain team.

After, we got back to the South Beach late Saturday night and went to a restaurant they beat the Swiss in ET. Within 20 minutes hundreds of them were driving up and down Ocean drive goading England fans that were just having a quiet beer. Nasty bunch on and off the pitch. Think they get away with some of the behavior because of Messi tbh, I wonder if FIFA will do anything about the banner.
