So what you are really saying is we mustn't sign a keeper who is good with his feet because that means he won't be any good at stopping shots/commanding his box etc.
Clearly those other skills have to be the most important consideration but, if the keeper we sign is good with their feet why would we decide we can't let them pass the ball? That would be the ideal for me. But it is also important that, as a team, we mix it up and are not too predictable. | |

I think that is a very basic idea of what the goalkeeper position needs to be even for a team likely fighting relegation.
This new keeper statistically looks like a really good shot stopper with good numbers for being dominant with high balls. |  |

Exactly this!! Far too much emphasis on teams wanting a goalkeeper that is as good as Ederson with his feet regardless of the level, it’s bloody ludicrous. Perhaps modern football should focus on goalkeepers that are actually there to keep the ball out of the net? If you want someone decent with their feet, stick a midfielder in goal. | |
