The fact Everton are being linked with him shows what level he's at, and middling to lower premier league quality players are what we still need a fair few of. Would be a shame to lose 1 of the few we've got on the books currently. Equally if he wants out then so be it, get as much as we can for him and reinvest it well.

Can't help but feel if we can sell him for £25m-£30m and release a £12m-£15m odd FFP profit whilst bringing in Fatawu for £20m, that is a decent bit of business. Lots of similar qualities but 2 years younger and more suited to fast-paced counter attacking football for me.

I can't say I'm hugely sold on Fatawu at £20m. No doubt he has quality, but his output isn't particularly special at Championship level. Being a part of the Leicester abomination last season isn't a good look for anyone involved either. He is rapid though, which is a quality we'll certainly need in an O'Neil system. I'll remain open minded.

And this is just my personal preference, but I like players with character and personalities, he doesn't seem to have much of either.

| Everton favourites to sign JP (n/t) on 10:05 - Jul 19 by SheffordBlue | He didn't have any choice in the Villa move - when we made our move Villa exercised a contract option that he didn't have any control over. He's ambitious and has an agent who likes making a lot of noise (he's changed agency but his agent has become part of that new agency so it's still the same guy making rubbish up!). I personally think a lot of the noise at the minute is just getting his name back out of there in anticipation of him having a good Prem campaign with us and getting a big money move in Jan/next summer. |
Phil’s original article regarding a change of agent doesn’t mention that he’s following his existing agent to another agency but if so maybe the implication of restlessness is not warranted.

I do agree re last season at Leicester. Nobody comes out of that looking good. I guess I am not as sold on Philogene as some. Clearly a very talented boy but not convinced he is cut out for a team that intends to be a quick counter attacking one. And has too many duff days for me too. £12m-£15m accounting profit would pay for the first year's amortisation for Emersonn, Fatawu, Diop, Van Oeuvelen and Scherpen.

Hugely disagree with this. He showed flashes of serious quality for us last season and with a full pre-season under his belt I think he'll have a role to play. Plus, don't forget he joined in January for the opportunity of winning promotion and playing in the Prem. He will have absolutely no interest in leaving this summer.
