I reckon we’ll probably spend another £100m or so 17:31 - Jul 28 with 3316 viewsIP1Blue

We’ve probably spent about £90m (including add ons) and sold 10m with Muric/Baggott (including add ons). We’re looking at probably another £50m+ in sales/loan fees (Philogene , H Clarke, Al Hamadi, Palmer, Szmodics, Humphries, Ogbene, Egeli (loan), Akpom (loan).

If we do spend another 100m - gives us a net spend of about £120/130m which is probably about what I thought we would do: I reckon it could maybe be on 6 quality signings in these positions with top division experience - I think we’re far from done in this market!

We need a right-back, as much as Furlong was a success last season he's not Premier League quality.

Poll: Who do you blame for our failure to progress?

I didn’t quite get this point.

” That list is not £100m or £90m!”

Totting it up it is £80-100M, so don’t quite get what you’re trying to say?

That’s not the main point I wanted to address though. It’s always about dominoes, especially for a newly promoted club waiting for those at the top of the chain to complete key signings. It was unrealistic to expect the (hopefully) best signings in before pre-season.

I was agreeing with you in a clumsy way!

We probably do need to spend £100m but I couldnt quite see how we would.

By my workings, 5 additions from here mean we need to ship 10 players from the squad. The first few are easy after that you are into the likes of Furlong, J Taylor, Akpom and Hirst which will make the team hardly recognisable and probably even more work to do to shift. That might be the quid pro quo to have a shot at staying up but it is quite a balance to arrive at 10 out going between now and Sept and to field a squad that knows each other versus a season getting to know one another before it is too late.

Have a hunch Johnson will be our first choice at RB.

Johnson can only play in a back 5 a hopeless full back in a 4 can't defend.

Ben Johnson got pretty consistently shown up when playing as an out and our right back in the PL.

I seem to recall Semenyo getting all kinds of joy in the 2-1 heartbreaker.

But he played really well as RM in the Prem, and our results with him playing there were well above the ppg for games when he didn't.

So maybe RWB, in a 352/532, could play to his strengths.

It certainly would suit Leif better.

I totally own the "maybe" above, however, and hope we bring in a first choice RB/RWB.
