| Oldie's question on how to stream just one part of the Proms 17:16 - Jul 30 with 475 views | Ryorry | Onto my sound system which doesn't have internet connectivity or Bluetooth, hive mind TWTD please? It's a Myryad unit connected to massive old Linn speakers which I'm obviously keen to use. It has options for DAB or FM radio, Aux, Dig or M-port inputs, or CD (so I could buy one I guess if needs must). Or I could stream to my TV which has internet connectivity & an added sound bar + bass unit - but would still rather hear via the Linns! | |

It depends on the output from your TV. If it has digital or optical out, you could connect that via the DAC into your aux. You would need some new cables too but a modest DAC is around £40. It won't be the greatest component in your system but should deliver what you need.

That's interesting, thanks, though I'd prefer something that didn't involve trailing a cable from the far end of one room through a door & up to the far end of a second room!

I wouldn't either!!!! It looks like you need to explore some sort of wireless solution. That's not really my area of expertise. Have you tried AI for a solution. It's one of the few good things to use it for!!!

That's just the last night of 70-odd Rest is mostly proper orchestral + a few choral & opera nights.

John Adams ‘Harmonium’, took up the whole second half on Sunday night 26/07, mesmerising and magnificent, but I wasn’t able to listen to the whole thing at the time - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/p [Post edited 30 Jul 19:14]

+ Prog rock, film, jazz, world music - it’s expanded its horizons greatly in the past few years, and is much the better for it.

Play on iPlayer, use software to capture the audio, burn to cd. If you are a copyright purist you won't want to do this. If you are a copyright respecter then you could destroy the cd afterwards. Or a laptop or tablet with a stereo headphone socket? Put it next to the stereo system. Plug from headphone socket to stereo aux in. Press play on iPlayer. No copyright issues. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Cheers! | |

I came here to say this. If I was ever going to turn into a sociopathic murderer, it’s that bit that would do it. Cringe isn’t the half of it!

You can get wireless blu tooth adapters - cheap as anything nowadays as blu tooth has its limits - but you plug one end into the source - likely headphone jack of equivalent and the other end to the amps rca

The source is the BBC Sounds app - want to be able to re-listen to one lengthy piece from last Sunday night's Prom concert. ArnieMoorhen has suggested a solution which I think would work for me (headphones cable from laptop to amp's input) but I'll certainly look at yours too, to see if it might deliver better quality or function with wider potential, thanks 👍
