Depends if they are paying a loan fee on top of a share of wages. We'll probably get £3m all told. Which is not unreasonable for what will be a 32 year old at the point the obligation is triggered.

One to get done and move on from, was never purchased as a player trading example at 29 to begin with.

Unlucky to get the injury in the PL season, might have ended up with more than 4 PL goals.

As we know from our own loans, there are often conditions even in obligations to buy that make me think we won’t be getting anything. I doubt he’ll score a lot or play all the time. Hopefully though.

No loan fee, they're paying a proportion of paying wages. Two obligation figures, one if they win promotion, one otherwise.

I get the feeling that whatever happened in January has also served to destroy any value he had left in him.

Even though nothing was confirmed publicly, I'd assume that the football community knows what happened.

Not a prophet, or a stone-age man; just a mortal with potential of a superman.

£2.7m if they don't go up, £5.4m if they do. I'm sure you'll all join me in singing, 'Come on the Rams!'.

What if they go down? Does an "obligation to buy" mean that he has already signed the contract with Derby which starts next season?

Those are decent numbers given we've made clear under 2 different managers that we don't want him here, and he's going to be getting on a bit by the time the fee is payable.

Hoping very much that the £2.7m is unconditional (i.e. there is an absolute obligation to buy, regardless of personal milestones/team performance etc), but I fear that's wishful thinking. We may be on the wrong end of an Al Hamadi deal, but they've got us over a barrel, it seems to me.

The 2.7m obligation and a season loan is clearly geared to avoid us showing a loss on him and affecting this season’s transfer budget. As you say decent enough numbers all things considered. L

Sky sports reporting a fee that could reach £5m odd.
