Neither expected to participate in the friendlies. Suspect they're being kept away from competitive contact whilst recuperating from their operations - restrict them to training ground only activity. O'Neil said they may be available for the season opener.

That line up is fine for a friendly. 5 new signings required. The team suggested would get battered in the PL. Scherpen RB OShea Greave Davis CM DMC Fatawu 10 Maeda 9 [Post edited 4 Aug 14:21]

I admit that is as strong as we can go but to see what that central midfield looks like will be scary. They would not typically start a championship game. Both good on the ball both typically quite weak off it without a chaperone destroyer it lacks bite. I wonder whether we persist with the 4141 meaning one is deeper and one gets up the pitch into a 4 man midfield or whether we are at more conventional 4231 stage.

I'm probably biased because I like him. But isn't Jack Clarke likely to be annoyed if Maeda just waltzes into the team ahead of him. Jack Clarke was on paper probably one of our best if not the best player in the team last season. And yet, everyone seems sold that Maeda is an upgrade on him on here. And Jack Clarke gets effectively relegated to the B team to play Oxford instead of Wycombe (with worse players around him). Just not entirely sure that's fair. Maybe he hasn't done much to impress O'Neil? Can we judge Maeda after he's played a few games for us first please?
