| 10 observations from Ipswich 1-0 Le Havre 22:07 - Aug 4 with 3843 views | unstableblue | 1) that was a really enjoyable pre season friendly and Le Havre were tidy, energetic - a good level for our 3 to go pre-season friendly 2) I much preferred the zip, shape and desire of the second half line-up 3) Thought the Davis and Maeda left sided partnership didn’t quite work first half, and Kipre looked loose at times 4) Emersonn has a real energy to him, but zero service, and touch isn’t that sharp at times. I liked Akpom second half and got the goal. 5) Humphreys was perhaps MOTM glided around at times; but I have to say this was the game when Egeli showed he needs to stay and have a role. He’s bulked up and looks pedigree. 6) Greaves has been player of pre-season and that continued 7) Fatawu is running him close, and was excellent for the second half 8) I like our younger/smaller Dutch keeper - play him ahead of palmer. Great feet. 9) I sentimentally love Tudor, but for his age he just hasn’t the physique to make it here 10) Diop was strangely wearing white leggings on a barmy night, he isn’t quite as cultured as OShea - our Irish international will start in the back 4. But Diop oozes physicality and experience. [Post edited 4 Aug 22:35]

Its slow motion Greaves isnt the fastest but things just seem quicker from defence to attack when its greaves over kipre.

Given we’ve not got any other natural CMs at the moment, I suppose that’s not surprising. But he’s looking a lot more relaxed and at home than supposedly better players.

Strangley if you perhaps put Florentino alongside Humphreys or Egeli you might just have something. Both of them showed more for me in terms of vision and energy going forward than Nunez. But I agree if you none of the players on the pitch you’d put Humphreys up there as the brightest talent. I think O’Neil has been impressed.

Le Havre were significantly weaker than Osasuna, and against my comment would have been better after Le Havre. But Le Havre pressed and chased and were really quite tidy, and defended well. Just lacked any cutting edge - and that attacking threat is what the Premier League is all about. People complained about Jadens lightweight nature, Tudor is another level. BUT he did have some nice moments and touches. Did you think Egeli has bulked up Dubster?

Greaves is streets ahead of him at the moment; but they may still bring in another left sided centre back. Not sure we’ll see too much of Kipre in the premier league.

Egeli impressed me tonight, looked more at home in the centre, and a decent range of passing when playing the deeper role too. Def looked a bit beefier.

I think you could be right about GON being impressed. He’s giving him a lot of time and he’s making the ‘best’ team in these various combos we’re fielding. It’s a huge step up for him to PL level still, but he’s got a speed of thought and execution about him that makes me think he could make it. He’s a beautiful footballer. I’m not even worried about the physicality because he’s got the first yard in his head.

Well, let's look at this way, Le Havre finished last season 5th from bottom and interestingly 1 place and 1 point above Auxerre who we turned over very comfortably pre season last season. Not trying to make direct comparisons but it's just a little food for thought. And like you would expect from any team in the French top flight, they are neat and tidy, with some technical ability, but they are near the bottom of that particular food chain. As for TM, I wouldn't disagree too much with that observation, flashes of ability at least.
| I liked Gary ONeil post match thoughts on 23:40 - Aug 4 with 2418 views | unstableblue | Nice style to interview And made points that chime well Good he called out Daragh and Greaves who have been stand out in pre season Greaves has earnt a start against Sunderland Florentino is needed as Azor would be touch and go for first game; but you need that depth through the season Clearly our new manager feels we need and expects a number of further additions - which we need | |

I wouldn’t worry about Kipre, he won’t be involved much.

Who expected the Burns news today if it goes through I still expect a few players from the last couple of yrs who have played regularly to leave. We are not strong enough yet and quality reinforcements are needed. Thought Le Havre were pretty poor to be honest.
