Against popular opinions I rank our current strikers in this order
Hirst - a confident Hurst can do a job, but would prefer him as an off the bench player
Emmerson - raw attributes, but has he got what it takes from the get go?
Akpom - impresses at times but don't see him at top. Level
Recruitment so far has been excellent for a newly promoted team.
Hopefully we have someone on the radar as a number 1 striker or are we less reliant on a number 9 with GON tactics. I don't know the answer this question?

Your order is relevant. Hirst looks like he's off. He certainly isn't going start ahead of a £25m signing.....
I've meant to ask this, is Emersonn seen as our No.1 striker? I'm guessing not, or at least we'll get someone who is considered similar.

I have one eye on the Guiu situation at Chelsea. They have a surplus of strikers and in the last game (I think) Delap was on the sub bench, but Guiu wasn't. |

There are plans, certain. Not a hope they would let Hirst go with just relying on Akpom and Emersonn (noting AAH was on his way out). | | | |

In an ideal world, our 22 year old, 25 million striker would be third choice and get a few minutes here and there?

I hate to say it, but we're probably in reality a goalkeeper, 3 defenders, 3 midfielders and 2 forwards short of being anywhere near staying up anyway! |
Don't need another keeper, do need a genuine PL quality striker as first choice ( no point otherwise as we already have 3 who aren't, though one is young and can certainly improve ). 2 full backs, at least one progressive/passing CM and a left winger. Should just about do it and give us at least a decent shout of getting over the finishing line. |  | | |

However good our recruitment is.... we're still going to have to find something extra amongst the squad to keep us up. And rely on maybe 1 or 2 'established ' clubs to have a bad season.
I don't really know so many of these players and I'm not sure how good Gaz is. Too many changes in too short a period. Too many uncertainties to worry about... let alone striker options. I think we're doing OK in the circumstances. | | | |

While I agree that we need another decent striker the way you phrase it is a bit off imo. How many genuinely premier League quality strikers are knocking about? I don't know whether Emersonn will or won't be but he has a chance to be so is way way above the others in the pecking order, but equally they haven't just been signed to lead the attack, and no team literally no team comes up from the championship with prem ready attackers. So basically we've bought one striker who is intended to be prem quality, and have Maeda and possibly enciso as quality back up. Yes we need another body who is a top option. But that's it.
I know it's not far off what you said really, but this whole thread seems a bit doom and gloom when the bottom line is we need one very good striker. We're never having 3 top strikers. We'll have Emersonn playing quite a bit, another striker of similar standing/ cost who'll play equally too, then possibly akpom as an option with Maeda and hopefully enciso as cover. That's plenty imo. |  | | |

2 weeks to go, in theory lots of time yet. It is as we know getting in the right player and not one for the sake of it. Which ever way it is dressed up we need a starting striker, Embolo seems a solid fit. [Post edited 7 Aug 8:20]
