And album so far ahead of its time, and so many songs influenced artists from the Jam to the Chemical Brothers.
* it was actually 60 years ago yesterday but I forgot to post it.
Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.

One of my favourite Beatles albums. Marked the transition from them as a rock and roll/pop band to a more experimental one.
And recorded just 5 months after they recorded Rubber Soul, which although lacking in the diversity of Revolver, was another massive leap from the Help album which was only recorded a few months before the recording of Rubber Soul.
I always think of Rubber Soul as being a pot album and Revolver being an LSD album.

Probably, (as far as I know) the first band that made a point of exploring and living with worldwide musical influences rather than being completely insular as bands had been previously and then incorporating those influences into their music.
And now our Ed has just done it with his 'Play' album.

Influential indeed but also fair to point out the influence that people like Stockhausen, John Cage, Brian Wilson and Ravi Shankar had on the sound of Revolver, not to mention early Motown.

incredible body of work. They weren't following fashions, they were at the fore of them or setting those fashions. And the short period of time they made all that musical progress. Amazing. Yet when they broke up, there was still potentially so much more to come. They were so far from burned out, (except on a personal level )!
