| Tickets for home games during the season - collective advice please 15:37 - Aug 9 with 4670 views | TwoKnightsInIpswich | After myself and Jnr visiting FPR yesterday Jnr (unfortunately a Spurs fan) said he'd like to go to more games. I haven't had a season ticket in over 20 years and wondered how easy it would be for us to attend the odd match during the season? Am I right that we'd both have to be members to stand a chance of getting tickets? Is there any guarantee that if we paid the £60-80 to be members we'd get tickets? All very confusing so I thought I'd ask the most intelligent people I know! I don't know many people! | |

There’s only been hospitality tickets available for a while for Sunderland.

There was odd single tickets in the North stand this morning, maybe returned over the weekend or season ticket holders putting up for re sale?

I did look and it still says "coming soon". They give no dates for "general sale" so I don't think they'll ever get there.....for league games anyway. [Post edited 10 Aug 11:18]

Is there such a thing as General Sale anymore? Pretty sure you’d need to be a member / season ticket holder.

Looks like you are right, doesn’t appear to go down to general sale, or can’t see a specified date, that it would become available. There are two restricted view in West stand available for Sunderland at the moment in central block, £50 each. Does seem a little expensive for restricted view, mind you.

Actually a couple of odd seats in South Upper too

They went quick then. I keep refreshing. My position of 5000+ in the queue didn’t allow me to get Liverpool tickets. Last season there were typically a few returns close to (or on the morning of) match-day, which I suspect is how I’ll manage to get the odd ticket this season.

North stand ones have gone quick, there are still a few (under 10) available for Sunderland. South Upper and West. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Tickets for home games during the season - collective advice please on 17:15 - Aug 9 by TwoKnightsInIpswich | We've done the local scene and even some league two clubs but there's not the connection to my team! I know its the way the game is going but it can't help generate new fans when they have to fork out £60-£80 for a season membership with no chance of watching the team! |
It adds more cost to the ticket and really is an unnecessarily high amount. Fleecing fans.

In order to enter the ballot for premiership games, you need to have been a member for 25/26, and also 26/27. I entered both, but did not get allocated a ticket for either Sunderland or Liverpool, and had to take my chances at 10:00 on the Monday morning. Managed to get a ticket for both games in SAR block 2.

I realise this is the way that football has gone but to pay £80 for the two of us for a slim chance of getting tickets is just fleecing fans. Think we'll have to settle for trips abroad every weekend to watch online which is such a shame as Saturday really reminded me of why I use to be a season ticket holder and why I travelled home and away (in simpler times) to support my club. A downside of success and the modern business model football club.

You may not see value in the membership, but others do (myself included). So it's not really fleecing fans, it's just that (as with most things in life), each of us will view the value differently.

I've got one even though I have a season ticket, because it comes with TownTV that I was spending £6 a month on anyway. So if you like TownTV it's worth it. You also get discounts in the shop, some merch, a few other bits n bobs. There's more to it than just a place in a queue.

Memberships are not exactly new! I always had Gold Card membership for priority access to high profile away games and that must go back more than 10 seasons.

It will, as I say, be different for everyone, but for me : - discounts at various stores around Ipswich; a couple a meals out and you soon pay for it - Town TV; I consume a lot of the content (love the GeniusIQ replays as a stats and numbers person) - 10 away points for continuous membership; if you only get to a few away games each season, it can mean the difference between getting a ticket or not - discounts on some hospitality (I realise not many people may use this, but this can cover the cost of membership in one use) - free attendance to U21 games - discounted women's game tickets - and last, but not least, for those that are interested, access to the season ticket waiting list

Even with all those listed, the main perk is getting tickets for a game. If you've got a lot of time on your hands and live locally, then great, but if not, a lot of those perks aren't very useful! [Post edited 10 Aug 15:58]

discounts at various stores around Ipswich; a couple a meals out and you soon pay for it - I live in Cambridgeshire - Town TV; I consume a lot of the content (love the GeniusIQ replays as a stats and numbers person) - Only watch game and can donthat from abroad at weekends - 10 away points for continuous membership; if you only get to a few away games each season, it can mean the difference between getting a ticket or not - use to pive away trips back in the day - discounts on some hospitality (I realise not many people may use this, but this can cover the cost of membership in one use) - again as not Ipswich based it doesn't benefit me - free attendance to U21 games - not interested due to location - discounted women's game tickets - not interested due to location - and last, but not least, for those that are interested, access to the season ticket waiting list I appreciate benefits are ok for those local to Ipswich but there are many supporters that travel a good distance for home games

It's clearly a money making exercise, but lets face it, it could be worse. Last time in the Premier League, if you looked late on (i.e. from Thursday night to Saturday morning), there are usually tickets popping up. If you and you son can sit even slightly separately then you could probably get tickets. I had a 7 year old son and I couldn't really be separated, but I probably could have gone to most games as a "single". Also if you don't mind restricted view tickets (I think £50 for not seeing all the pitch is again rip off) then you'll have more luck too. EDIT: Just to add, don't pick a "top" team game and you'll definitely have a chance. Also, strangely the last few months of the season it was a lot easier getting tickets.........haha I suspect if we're doing well though, it'll be harder to get some. [Post edited 10 Aug 16:00]

You just have to be prepared at 10am when they go on sale. Trick is to have a few tabs open across private browser and ideally on another device to guarantee a good place in the queue.

I did clearly say it will be different for each person. A couple of points on your replies. TownTV - use a VPN, and you can access it wherever you like when travelling (I do) Discounts in Ipswich - I live an hour away, and typically get into Ipswich on game days only for the most. I’ll usually go somewhere to eat before or after a game, which will sometimes be somewhere that gives a discount Hospitality- this is matchday hospitality, so if you’re coming to the game, it’s an option. Ultimately it’s down to what each person values, but my first reaction was to calling it ‘fleecing the fans’. That’s not really accurate, as many people will value the benefits way beyond just being able to purchase matchday tickets.

£40, well £70, is excellent value to enable me and my son to go to every away game Joking aside the whole point of the membership is to make money, that’s why it’s available to buy right up until the last game of the season. It gives everyone the chance for a ticket at least. New members can enter away ballots.
